A refreshing change from the typical pop/punk music out there
I have been a fan of The Wonder Years for the last few years and was very excited to pick up their latest release. It is exactly what I have to come to expect from them. They did not stray from their typical sound at all, which some bands do unfortunately once they become veterans in the music scene. If you are not sure what The Wonder Years sound like, it is sort of like Brand New circa Your Favorite Weapon, mixed with The Starting Line. Their lyrics are something almost anyone can relate too...mostly stemming from high school experiences, their friends, and the life of someone in their 20's. Lyrics aside, the music itself is very catchy. It is also very refreshing because they don't use that annoying electronic/synth sound that is found way too much in music today. Some of the songs do sound a bit similar but the lyrics hook you in so you don't even really notice this too much. Overall this is a great high powered, fast paced (except for one song), excellent album. You won't be disappointed.

uplifting pop punk
The Wonder Years surprised me with this album. After Get Stoked On It, what i would consider a joke/silly record, The Upsides shows that these 6 (5 now) dudes from the keystone state know how to write honest, inspiring music. The theme of the album is getting over sadness. "I'm not sad anymore" is repeated more than a few times in most of the songs and, after listening, you really won't be sad anymore.

What can I even say?
It's the album that started it all. The story of struggle and spiteful optimism as only Soupy can tell it. Truly a classic, and an absolute must have for any collection, no ands ifs or buts.

Growing Up: the good, the bad, the truth
I grew up in West Texas in the late 80s/early 90s, and yet these are my own songs, every word, just as much as they are Soupy and the boys'. Very few albums are as universal as this one. It is almost touch to listen to, the deluge of memories it brings back.

Fight Back
This is one of best pop punk albums in recent memory. If you have ever felt like the world wants you to be sad and down, this is an album all about fighting back and finding a way to be happy. Truly a must have.

Songs that I just needed to hear
Look, we all have tough times. The Wonder Years has clearly had their fair share of them. The way they've written these songs is almost like therapy. Not to mention that the guitar parts are are awesome too. I'd buy it again if I had the money.

Album imprescindible
