5 Stars, and I'll Tell You Why!
Ashlee Simpson launched her music career back in 2004 with her debut single "Pieces of Me", which by the way was a top 5 hit on the BBH100. The reason why I love this album so much is because, A. It's was way different from anything I had ever heard, and B. Ashlee has a great rock/raspy voice, one of the many reasons she chose to do rock/pop. I'm going to start my song reviews, and I'll continue at the end.1. "Autobiography" - 5/5: Her theme song to the hit MTV show "The Ashlee Simpson Show". This is a HUGE stand-out track on the album because not only is it the song we all wanted to hear, but it's been recognized as one of the best song on the album.2. "Pieces of Me" - 5/5: Possibly one of the BEST songs of 2004. It's a very creative record, it's describing her love towards the person. It's also a GREAT teen anthem.3. "Shadow" - 5/5: One of the best songs on the album. She wrote it because critics thought that she was going to follow the foot steps of her sister Jessica, who is known as a hit pop artist. Ashlee had been compared a lot, but I believe this song did cool off the topic just a little bit.4. "LaLa" - 5/5: YES! A great song! Really shows her CRAZINESS! Ashlee isn't trying to show her audience that she's "punk" music, but she has a LOT of resemblance to rock music, especially with this song. Great choice as a 3rd single!5. "Love Makes The World Go Round" - 3.5/5: Not the strongest song on the album. It took me about (yep, and hear me out on this one) 4 years to get used to this song! No joke, I would always skip this song when I listened to the album. I now believe that it' a great song, but should have been a B-side, or even a bonus track, does NOT deserve to be on the original issue. If you go and search Ashlee Simpson Shadow CD Single, there is a great song named "Sorry" on that CD Single. I believe that song should have been on the original issue, than this song.6. "Better Off" - 5/5: Great song! BEAUTIFUL song! I believe that it is a stand out track. The chorus is MASSIVELY catchy!7. "Love Me For Me" - 4.5/5: Nice song! She wrote if for her ex-boyfriend. It makes a great break up anthem, nice job with this track!8. "Surrender" - 5/5: I remember watching the Ashlee Simpson Show on MTV one day, and this song was being listened to, and I knew from the start that it would be one of my favorites, but I thought that it would NEVER be on this album because it's way to poppy for an Ashlee Simpson album.9. "Unreachable" - 3/5: Lowest rated song (for me, at least). Critics RAVED about this track, but it's the weakest song (and the most boring) on the album. It shouldn't even be a b-side for the album. Although it has good piano on the song.10. "Nothing New" - 5/5: Blown Away! When I first heard this song, it automatically became a huge favorite of mine, Ashlee, I have 1 word for you... SINGLE! It would have been a HUGE hit!11. "Giving It All Away" - 5/5: Very nice song, inspirational. You shouldn't give up, or give yourself as something your not. Probably one of my favorite songs on the album! Good Job Ashlee!12. "Undiscovered" - 3/5: Ashlee has made it very clear that this IS her favorite song on the album. I believe it's very boring and weak. This song was featured in the movie "Undiscovered" that Ashlee stars in, and it should have just been a single for the soundtrack. I believe the song "Endless Summer" would have made a good replacement for this song.*BONUS TRACK:13. "Harder Everyday" - 5/5: I have 2 copies of this CD, the US version, and the EU version. The EU version came with a bonus track. I love it, and I'm crazy about it, It talks about how her relationship is getting HARDER EVERYDAY! YouTube it if you haven't heard it before.Overall, this album is very solid, and is one of my FAVORITE albums EVER released. Probably even in my top 10 albums. It went 3x platinum, and whoever I talk to about this album, has it. I give Ashlee a round of applause for this album because not only was it the strongest female debut sales of the week for that year, but it was also one of the best selling albums of the year! Good job Ashlee, hope your next album has the same success!

Classic Ashlee Simpson!
Autobiography is one great album. As you most likely know this was Ashlee's first album released in 2004. I love both this album and I Am Me but for some reason this album will always have a special place in my heart.I can remember just hearing about Ashlee the day after this album came out after seeing the Ashlee Simpson Show and running all over southern Maine to try to find a store that still had this album in stock! Finally I found the album at the Wal Mart that was 100 yards down the road from my apartment!It was well worth the travels and even at today's gas prices I would drive across the state to get this album! Now don't get me wrong, Ashlee isn't this incredible vocally talented person but she is talented and she does have a good voice. In fact the people who are said to have good voices like Christina and Mariah really annoy me. It's people like Ashlee and Lindsay Lohan who have imperfect voices that I really enjoy.Ashlee has really gotten better and improved vocally since this album and her live concerts are incredible and are much improved from when she first started.As for this album, there isn't one track that I don't like. In fact this is one of the very few albums I can listen to from beginning to end and love every song. If I had to pick a top 3 songs list from this album it would probably be "Lala" at #1, The title track "Autobiography" and of course "Pieces of Me." But like I said...every song on this album is a 10 out of 10 if I was to score it.Another great thing about this album is Ashlee is the major song writer for every song on this album. She does have help and shares songwriting credit with the likes of Kara DioGuardi, and John Shanks as well as others but you can certainly tell this album is all about Ashlee.Is Ashlee perfect? No, she is "Beautifully broken" as a song from her I Am Me album points out but she is one very talented musician, and yes I do mean that. She has room to improve and she has improved dramatically since this album came out and given the right promotion from Geffen I believe she can remain at the top of the pop music genre for many years to come.Pick up this album if you don't already own it and even if you do already own it, you probably wore it out already so get another copy to replace it! This is easily my favorite album in recent memory.

It’s the American standard not the UK special edition
After 17 years I still play autobiography [mostly] all the time and during these years I’ve bought copies from time to time cause I always use them a lot. I loved this one, since is like the first I bought in 2004 but it’s not the special edition it’s displayed ☹️ Can’t give a bad review to the album that saved me but I wanted that pink cd with bonus tracks

HONEST,RAW,POPPY AND EXHILERATING
Listen and read clearly.This album is amazing.I have purchased this c about 4 times since it was released.Ashlee Simpson has plenty of talent contrary to the sucky reviews and dummy critics.Her voice is absolute perfection.I like to think of it as a cross betwee Courtney Love,Joan Jett,and Stevie Nicks.She has a rich, deep ,steely tone to her voice. The songs themselves are fantastic.They are everything you want in a song.They are catchy,melodic,and with great lyrics.Ashlee co-wrote all of the album along side John Shanks and together they make magic.People tried to say she was punl,then pop,then rock she takes from all of those areas.She has rock guitar and pop melodies and lyrics.I urge you to purchase the album for it is amazing and you will not be disappointed.There is not one song I dnt love not one.Purchase this immediately

Autobiography
Ashlee gets a lot of crap from people. Sure she doesn't have this super awesome bring-tears-to-your-eyes voice but that doesn't mean her music is any less enjoyable. I recommend listening to her albums all the way through more than once, because as I did that I appreciated it and loved it more. I personally love her raw punky pop voice and I look forward to her music!
