Beautiful Alpaca Scarf Peruvian Camargo Style - Fair Trade Natural Dye-Free Colors - Soft and Incredily Warm (Black)

I bought two scarves in black as Christmas gifts. Both recipients absolutely LOVED the scarves. They commented on how soft they were. Reasonablly priced too.

Very nice and soft

I received this product at a substantial discount in exchange for my honest review. As such, I snapped it up without looking closely at the details before purchasing. Retail customers should pay VERY CLOSE attention to description and photographs before buying. It's a 30/70 blend of Alpaca and acrylic, not pure Alpaca, and the difference is fairly obvious. I wore it for about 5 minutes, just around the house, and it is ITCHY. I do have somewhat sensitive skin, but it's not at all comparable to my other Alpaca wool items. It also has a very LARGE embroidered label which is not attractive and certainly not removable by reasonable means. I haven't worn it long enough to experience shedding (as referenced by some other reviewers), but considering the construction. (woven not knit), it would not surprise me in the least. The description says that the item is Fair Trade, but it carries no certification of same, rendering that claim questionable at best. I would not buy again, but don't let that put the reader off Alpaca in general. Alpaca wool from a reputable, certified Fair Trade source is an excellent purchase and an excellent value considering quality and longevity - just do your homework and know exactly what you're getting.

This is not my favorite scarf...in fact, I am a little disappointed in the scarf. It has a big logo and brand name embroidered on it (kinda makes it look cheap in my opinion), it sheds black fibers all over my coats, it is only 30% alpaca and 70% acrylic, it is not nearly as soft as my other alpaca scarf, all of the edges have a whip stich on the outside (I can only assume this is to keep it from unraveling)?? I have another alpaca scarf and it is not stitched on the outsides?!?! Anyway, you get the picture...I don't mean to make it sound like a terrible scarf, it's a fine scarf, just not for me. I appreciate that I was given the opportunity to purchase this scarf at a discounted rate in exchange for my honest review, its just not for me.
