Easy to use and durable
Love the size and durability of this fun tool/toy! We gave it as a gift to our nephew and he loved it and rarely goes outside to play without it! It was the perfect gift for our boy who loves to dig and explore!

Great for a little explorer
My 4-year-old son loves digging in the dirt in the backyard and finding fossils and bugs these tools were a great addition to his little outdoor adventure kit! He's able to easily use each tool and clip and unclip it which makes it a lot easier for me! I would totally recommend this to another Young explorer!

An accidental purchase that turned into an encouraging lesson
My four-year-old son accidentally purchased this on our iPad because Amazon feels it necessary to enable 1-Click purchasing by default on every device you own.Having said that, this purchase turned into an excellent way to teach my son that buying things (intentional or not) requires an exchange of money, goods, or services. My wife made a chart of tasks that he could do, he was only allowed to do one per day, and he could only do each task a certain amount of times. After completing the required number of tasks, he would then be allowed to open and use this product. It was one of the best money-learning experiences for him - heck, when he was done "paying off" this item and another one he purchased, he was asking what he could do to earn _more_ money. Fabulous! If I had any worries about him getting sucked into the time-wasting void of video games, this key-ring of field tools has given me hope that any parent can encourage their kids to earn money.p.s. The toy was also pretty decent, even if it was a little pricey.

Cute and Useful for Teaching and Learning but Needs Some Improvements
After searching through many products to prep for our homeschool unit on Rocks and Minerals I decided on the Backyard Safari 6-1 tool. The kids were beyond excited when they received them and quickly clipped them on. Here are the pros and cons:Pros:1. the choice of tools is a great choice for a young child to start their search for rocks and help them get into creative play and learning (we discussed other tools geologist use and came up with good home options to use i.e. sand sifter2. the clip is a nice touch to keep the tools together3. it help extend their discovery time by having some cool toolsCons and needed improvement:1. The clip is poor quality (should be much stronger). I will have to replace the main clip for a stronger one so they don't lose it on the go (we almost did today a few times while on our discovery walk.2. The whistle is not loud at all (while some may love this, I understand...I want them to be able to use it properly outdoor. Thinking up a better option which may mean buying a better whistle to include in there for them. This is not however a "tool" they need but a nice inclusion.I encourage Backyard Safari to make these improvements and parents like myself will definitely buy more of their products without second guessing it so much. These are EASY fixes.

Fun to pick things up with
The ring that they go on is really large. It kind of flops around on the Safari Vest. It also does not seem to be a strong ring. The whistle is very quiet, which to me is a plus! I would get a really metal ring to put the tools on. My grandson loved this tool set.

He likes feeling like a big boy and doesn't feel left out when ...
My son who is 6 absolutely loves this. I bought it for him when he was 5 and he was just the right age for the item, any younger and I feel He might have wanted to play with it as not intended. He likes feeling like a big boy and doesn't feel left out when I am doing adult things with my tools around camping and hiking. It has held up to high amount of abuse. Good quality.

Low quality
I bought this to put in my five and six year old grandson’s stockings. They arrived today, for the price I’m very disappointed in the quality, I wasn’t expecting extremely high quality, but better than this. We have a place in the mountains, the boys love to dig and collect bugs, hopefully they will be able to get a bit of use out of them.

Son loves this
This was a gift for our six year old outdoor explorer. I was surprised that they are strong, not the break in a day type of toy. He loves clipping the ring onto his pants and using the tools for exploring in the dirt. Great item. Too bad they aren't made of metal... regardless I would highly recommend.
