Good balance of cost, size, weight, quality and comfort - my new backpacking hammock!
Before selecting this hammock, I looked at others in a similar price. I already have a dedicated high end camping hammock, it is extremely comfortable but also heavy and I want to lighten my backpack. So, I began looking for more basic and lighter hammocks. I don't need anything fancy, just the basics and a bug net. I contacted the seller of this hammock with some questions and Jack wrote back within hours even though I think he is in China. He answered my questions and said that they make the hammock themselves, not just a reseller - and he spoke with pride in the hammock, always good to see pride in one's goods. Ok, hammock arrived and time for a hike in the woods.Spoiler Alert: If you're short on time, here's the spoiler. I really like this hammock. It is not perfect, and it is not as feature rich as my other (heavier and much more costly) hammock, but it does many things very well; cost, quality, weight, size when packed... all good. This is a well made, hammock. Details to follow...Ok, so made it to a spot to make camp, it was a steep hill so definitely not a tent area - hammocks are perfect for hills. I setup the hammock easily, initial impressions are that it is not a high end hammock, but not low quality either. Everything on it seems good for the most part. So far so good, and it was nice to hike without my previous heavy hammock in my pack. I took awhile adjusting the hammock to find a comfortable spot, all hammocks hang a little differently so that comfort spot has to be found for each. To lay flat in a hammock, you lay diagonally. If you lay in the middle, you'll be bent like a banana and by morning you'll feel really sore. So, lay on the diagonal and you'll be surprisingly flat. Longer hammocks offer better diagonal lay positions. This is my first issue with this hammock, not a deal breaker though. The hammock is short by camping hammock standards. I'm short, at only 5'8" and it works for me. People taller than 6 feet might have an issue, they could certainly use it but the diagonal lay line might not be as comfortable or as flat as a longer hammock. I'm short, and it worked ok. I spent 5 days and 4 nights on my first outing with this hammock and I'm sure I'll take it on MANY MANY more. The Good: * Low weight, 22.4oz including hardware. * Reasonable cost and good overall quality. * Very compact when packed * Good bed material, soft to touch, felt strong when in use. * VERY GOOD: most moderate cost hammocks sew loops directly to the fragile bugnet to suspent the bugnet by lines. That's a bad idea as it can easily tear the bugnet. This hammock however, does not do that and that's VERY VERY GOOD. Instead, this hammock runs webbing for the loops to hang the bugnet. The webbing reinforces the bugnet and provides strong points to suspend it by. This is MUCH more durable, and it is also how many more costly hammocks do it. This is great! * The zippers all worked smoothly without getting stuck. * The gathered ends of the hammock were tied off well using minimal cord, nicely done. * Stitching was generally good, a few stray threads but not many. The ends of the hammock where the most strain is were double and triple sewn for strength, excellent. * Comfort. I have to talk about this a little. I had trouble finding a comfortable diagonal lay, the hammock is shorter than other camping hammocks I've used and that limits the flatness of the lay position. I decided to try adding a structural ridgeline to it, essentially a line between the two carabiners so that the hammock hangs slack even though the straps to the tree are pulled tight (about 30 degree angle). Once I added the structural ridgeline, the hammock went from uncomfortable to AMAZINGLY comfortable. Whoo hoo, it's a winner. (You can google "structural ridgeline hammock" and you'll find lots of info on how to make one, mine was less than a $1 to add. You can see it in the photos). The Not as Good (aka the bad): * The hammock is shorter than I'd like, but it works. This is good and bad, the shortness makes it pack smaller and keeps the weight down, and those are both good things. The bad is it makes it more difficult to find a comfortable sleeping position (but a structural ridgeline fixes that comfort issue, you can make one easily). * The webbing used to reinforce and suspend the bugnet is a rather low thread count, aka loosely woven webbing. This makes it very soft and it easily snags on twigs and other stuff. I used sticks to spread the bugnet (see photos), and the loosely woven webbing snagged on the twigs quite a lot. Once snagged, it had pulled threads and over time will look a little ragged. A tighter woven webbing would be much better and not snag nearly as much, but the webbing used works and does the job. Not a deal breaker at all. * Bugnet sag. The bugnet sags in the middle and on the two ends as shown in the photos. When you're inside the hammock, this isn't too bad as your weight makes it more taught. There was plenty of room under the bugnet, but an additional webbing and loops in the center of the hammock would be nice and minimize sag. * Comfort, without a structural ridgeline I had trouble finding a comfortable sleeping position, but once I added one the hammock instantly transformed to extremely comfortable. * The steel carabiners that come with it are plenty strong and work well, but they're heavy. If you are car camping or don't need to pack light, these will work fine. There are however, much lighter options for hammock backpackers. I removed the carabiners and replaced them with ultralight climbing carabiners.None of the bad things are deal breakers, just minor things that are easily dealt with. Overall, this is a definite keeper. I like it a lot, and it will be my main hammock for this and coming backpacking trips. Is it perfect? No. Is it good? Absolutely. Would I recommend it? Yes.

hook the carabiner clips and you are good to go
I ordered 3 of the hammocks for camping in the Boundary Waters Canoe area. Order arrived on time and product was as ordered. Comes with heavier rope to tie off the hammock and lighter rope to string up the mosquito netting. Set-up was a breeze; tie two knots, hook the carabiner clips and you are good to go. Very comfortable and quality design. I am 6'4" and well over 200 pounds and held me without issue. Netting was sewn well, with no holes or cheap stitching. Did not encounter any bugs while using the hammock. Rained one day while gone, returned to shake out the hammock and it was dry with-in minutes of the sun hitting it. Could easily add a rain-fly and be set rain or shine.Pro:-Light wgt, quality product, easy to use and as keeps the bugs away with COMFORT.Cons:-Use of this product 5 days in the Boundary Waters yielded no issues.

Nice for price, but the hammock is just too thin and the stitching started to give way on my first sit.
Nice for price, but the hammock is just too thin and the stitching started to give way on my first sit. I'm 180 so if your less you may have better luck, but I had to return. Your milage may vary, and this might be a great hammock if your below 180, but if you that or above, you may experience the same issues I did. A shame too, as it was exactly the design I was looking for at an awesome price.

He loves the idea the mosquito netting seeing we get horrible skeeters here in Alaska
Birthday gift for hubby! He really likes it but hasn't taken it out camping yet. He loves the idea the mosquito netting seeing we get horrible skeeters here in Alaska. As for durability I can't tell you yet -Will update after he uses it. Will rate 5 stars if all goes well.

For the price they are a good entry into tent camping
They work, but the material is only fair quality, and they are smallish. For the price they are a good entry into tent camping. They pack into a small package and they are light. I highly recommend getting our making a wammy sling before your first outing

Will probably buy better straps vs the line it came with
Stretched out on my first night. Will probably buy better straps vs the line it came with. Took a lot of time to unknot the line that goes around the tree. Also I had to use extra line that this did not come with.

Durable and small for backpacks
I love how durable and tight this hammock is. It stores easily in a backpack and is set up just as easily after hiking to a campsite.
