The HG of Eyeliner
I used to buy this for CHEAP at the drugstore 10 years ago. I was poor and addicted to heavy eyeliner so it was a match made in RiteAid. As NYC Cosmetics became harder and harder to find I tried to find a replacement. How hard could it be to replace three dollar eyeliner, right?Apparently it's impossible. At this point I don't care about the price I just want a good product. What makes this eyeliner magical:- It is BLACK. Not dark gray, not black after several passes. BLACK as my soul in one swipe everytime.- It is completely matte- It never flakes. You know how sometimes you do a subtle cat eye on one eye and it looks great? But then you do the other eye and they don't quite match. So you add more to the first eye. Now you need to add more to the second. Pretty soon you've got 15 layers of liner caked on there but you're over it and don't want to start over. IT STILL WON'T FLAKE. It doesn't lift itself when adding more product or flake off/stick onto my eyelash curler either.- It doesn't smudge and doesn't transfer onto my eyelid but removes easily with just water. MAGIC. You will look lile a hot mess if caught in the rain though. But I have fallen asleep with it on more times than I'd like to admit and it refuses to smudge.- One tube will last forever. It starts to dry out before I run out of product.- It doesn't sting my eyes. Like even when I'm trying to apply it in a moving car and I jab myself in the eye with a ton of product it doesn't sting.A lot of people say the NYX matte liquid liner is the same. NYX comes with a slightly skinnier brush which some people may prefer. The brush on this one can be a touch thick for super fine lines. This formula is ever so slightly thicker. The main downside to the NYX for me is it occasionally flakes and it doesn't adhere to my skin as well, it often lifts off small patches that stick to my eyelash curler.I don't know how NYC managed to make an eyeliner at this price point that outperforms twenty dollar liners but here we are. I don't know if NYC is even still in business or if I'm buying super old stock but I honestly don't care cause it's my HG.

My favorite liquid eyeliner
This has always been my go to liquid eyeliner. I am by no means a high maintenance type of girl. I found this NYC liquid eyeliner at my local Rite-aid pharmacy about 5 or six years back...it was only a few bucks back then. It has been my fav ever since. It is not water proof but it is matte (not shiny at all) and it does not cake or flake... Glides on smoothly with the long, thin brush type applicator (vs. a sponge applicator..I hate those) Lasts pretty much all day.. and is perfect for creating the best cat eye look. You can remove it completely with a make up wipe or soap and water. * Disclaimer.. Rite-aid's near me do not carry NYC products anymore but I am committed.. so I will gladly purchase from Amazon for a bit of a higher cost.

Probably the best liner ever
To the people giving the liner a low review because of reasons like “I prefer a felt tip” or “application is messy”. Yall probably just aint good with brush tip liners but no need to be negative about the liner itself. LISTEN, I USED TO LIVE FOR THIS LINER. LITERALLY THE ONLY KIND I WOULD BUY. They stopped selling it at like drugstores and Walmart so finding it on amazon was a pleasant surprise. Shipped earlier than expected too! I love this liner so much okay. The brush tip might be a little more difficult to use but it definitely allows for more crisp clean wings and sharp edges.

Worth Every Single Penny
This is literally, hands down, the BEST eyeliner I've ever used. I haven't even come across a high end brand that compares. When I initially started using this brand it was $3 at the drugstore until it was discontinued. I'll now gladly pay a high end price because in all honesty it performs like a high end, high quality eyeliner. It applies smooth with nice, sharp lines. It's not watery or thin and it drys very bold and matte. And most importantly, it doesn't smudge, smear or bleed throughout the day.

Hands down the best!!
A little over priced but boy is this eyeliner one day of the best. Its super long lasting it does not crack the pigment is strong however easy to remove from eyes with a make up wipe. I use to buy this eyeliner back in the day at Target for like $3 and I cannot find it anywhere but here. I'll keep buying it even if it goes up to $20 it is that good. Better than Kat Von D or NYX

I love this liner [EDIT]
I love this liner, and i use it nearly every day. Its cost effective, its a dark dark black, its capable of getting a really smooth line, its consistent and non-patchy in formula and its matte, honestly this liner is almost perfect. My major complaint is that if you dont wear eyeshadow or powder on your eyelids and you have hooded or semihooded eyes, there is a possibilty your liner will transfer onto the top of your eyes. This doesnt happen all that often for me, but its worth a warning. Also its brush is great but it could be tricky for an eyeliner newbie, but as a seasoned wearer of liquid liner, i dont have many problems. Also, it is not waterproof, so no scuba diving or deep sea excursions with this liner. Nonetheless it lasts a really long time. EDIT: I have recently done some digging online and discovered that NYC is NOT cruelty-free, so i will not be repurchasing this liner. But, since this is a review of the product and not the brand, I stand by the review I have written. Just wish the brand was more transparent in their cruelty free policy. Its a good liner, but if you are cruelty-free, steer clear.

THE BEST
.. I am a huge makeup junkie and spend tons of money on high priced makeup however this use to be like $6 at drugstores or target... now not so much I have to order from Amazon and the cheapest is like $20 but as you can see it’s worth it because I went from paying $6 for a couple of years to $20.... it’s easy to fix a mistake with a damp qtip... easy to apply... and is very black... doesn’t dry to an ashy gray color
