    Couldn't have been happier!

First off I must applaud Amazon for the shipping and packaging on this book i bought. It came 2 days earlier than it was estimated to arrive, and when i opened the package, i haven't seen nicer care taken to make sure this product wasn't in danger of being damaged. The book was wrapped up in not one, not two, but THREE layers of bubble wrap, and nicely secured to the book! I couldn't have been happier! For any collector that orders online and is purchasing goods to add to a collection, its always a worry that your product could come damaged, lost, or late. You want your products to come in great shape and handled with care and Amazon did just that!As this was the last CE Final Fantasy Xiii series guide i needed to add to my collection, i'm very happy with it! The Cover is very nice, durable, and well constructed. The book also has this kind of puff or cushion feel to the cover that just seems to accentuation and compliment the foil logo on the front! I'm super happy with the addition of the built in book marks and i found myself often trying to memorize page numbers that i left off on in the first FFXIII CE guide , so that's a plus for me! The book is laid out in sections is very organized, and easy to find whatever it is your searching for! And always a nice little addition they add a little section for a gallery of concept sketches/artwork and Q&A in the back with the Collector edition guides! The only thing that is missing for me is, as with the first FFXIII CE guide, it was limited on copies and each book came individually numbered and this one is also a limited run and i didn't happen to see a number as its just cool to see what book number you got! :P Anyways this is a great guide, a perfect companion for the game, and is ideal for any fan, collector, or anyone new to the series! :D

    Great guide, nice collectible item.

Honestly it's more a 4 and a half stars review. I like the guide and how the pages feel solid. I also like the padded cover because I think they were trying to recreate a feeling of leather bound or something like that (I don't know much about book materials). To my eye they tried to give you something similar to the Collector edition of the game , which kinda feels closer to a leather bound cover(but is not). A few pages came torn at the side but not a big deal, I don't care enough to send it back in even if they gave me replacement. The questions with development team at the back of the guide is a very nice touch with some good art and screen shots from the game. It helps to make up for the poorly short artbook that was included with the Collector edition of the game. If your thinking of getting this and only a regular copy , feel free to do that because some of the art from game's collector book is included so collector edition of the game is even less enticing. In terms of content it's really well done , I had only one issue during play , which was I was reading the walkthrough and was told to go to 'x' place and and then 'y' place and I was bothered because it was a confusing level and the book didn't have a map or screen shot. The next even I found out , that you should go to the section "Tour Guide" in order to get a detailed quest list along with maps and waypoints and screenshots, very handy stuff, would of been nice if it included referenced page numbers though ( had to check Table of Contents). Honestly at this price point you shouldn't even worry about it, just buy it. It's worth it if your even considering it.Also There are some nice large screenshots/artwork through out the book that are there purely for looks and they are really nice.

Love It - Pros and Cons

*by R***N on Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2012*

For starters, I gotta say I like the physical "features" of this guide. The simple cover and the two purple ribbons give the guide an above-average vibe (whether it becomes collector's quality or not, that's up to your own tastes). I've been using this guide rather aggressively since the release date of FF13-2 and the binding is still holding. In terms of organization, I think it's great (there are flaws, but fixing them isn't exactly possible IMO)Pros / Cons:Pro #1. There's a simple, separate section with a walkthrough that gets you to the end of the game with minimal spoilers.Con #1. "Minimal spoilers" mean you have to flip to the "more spoilers" section when you want more details (such as where key quest items are located - you'll see "refer to p.###" many times)Pro #2. The "more spoilers" walkthrough has every location described in great detail.Con #2. While finding a location of interest in the guide is an easy task, learning HOW to unlock that location is more challenging (ex. On the page for Bresha Ruins 300 AF, there's no mention of HOW to reach Bresha Ruins 300 AF)Pro #3. A section exists specifically for live triggers in the game.Con #3. It's all the way in the back, so if you want to have perfect live triggers, you'll have to go back and forth. Why did I give it a 5? In terms of the physical features, the product is solid. The binding might not last 10 years (or maybe it might, depends on how you treat it) but that doesn't mean it's a bad product. The guide has everything you would expect from a guide and that's enough, no?While there are some flaws in the guide's organization, which forces you to flip back and forth to get a perfect play through, the guide comes with ribbons for a reason, use them. FF13-2 is designed to be non-linear, so there's no way a perfect guide can exist. If you play the game in the order suggested by the guide, you won't really need to flip back and forth. If you like doing side-quests, then you simply have to use the guide a bit more. All in all, the product is solid. I am personally very satisfied with it (flaws included) and I'm sure you'll manage.
