Ostomy Shower Guard by EMPOWER YOUR CHANGE - Size: S, M, L, XL & Custom-size

This is a great product, but require a little modification for it to work really well. As noted in many reviews the opening for your ostomy bag in the back of the apron is not big enough for most ostomy bags to be inserted. In my case to solve the problem I measured my ostomy bag's wafer diameter and then cut the opening to fit that dimension on the horizontal axis. In other words I "ovaled" the opening. I then put a 2" vertical slit in the apron pocket from the bottom of the opening, which allows me to insert my ostomy bag in the shower apron pocket much more easily. Also, as far as, sizing you need to measure yourself around your lower rib cage about 2" or so below your nipples. This is where the top of the apron will ride with your bag inserted. It also provides a solid foundation for the elastic band to be tightened against to prevent water from leaking in. For me I measured 43" around my lower chest, so I ordered the X-Large apron which fits bodies up to 50".I don't know if these tips will work for everyone out there, but for me, I can now get a 10 minute shower each evening and my bag comes out just as dry as It went in.

Upon opening the package (IMMEDIATELY ELIMINATES YOUR ABILITY TO GET A REFUND) for inspection, I figured this wouldn't work for me. Not a big deal, everyone who uses ostomy appliances know that any product is a 50/50 chance it will work for them individually. My issue was that only when trying to get a refund do you see the return policy that states you can only get a refund on UNOPENED packages. IF you open it, and IF you don't try it on, MAYBE you'll get a PARTIAL refund, but you have to pay return shipping and a restocking fee. Since I was stuck with this item, I tried it and it didn't work at all for me. My ostomy appliance was completely soaked. Again, I don't blame the product, it just didn't work for my body shape.

This is basically an apron you wear in the shower so your ostomy bag doesn't get soaking wet. I didn't have too much trouble getting my ostomy bag into the apron's opening. For the most part this product keeps my ostomy bag dry. If any moisture does get on my bag it is very negligible. The one time water got into the bag's opening it was because I didn't have the waist band tight enough around my waist so that was my fault. I'm learning how to do it right. So far this product has been very helpful and I'm glad I bought it.

This is a great item in theory, but it needs some tweaking. The product is unnecessarily huge but the opening to insert the ostomy bag is small and awkward to use. Somehow, water always ended up in the pouch and my ostomy bag got wet anyway. Once it's wet inside it's almost impossible to get the inside of the product dry. Would suggest a zip lock type opening in the bottom to allow bag to be opened and dried after use. Over all, too expensive and difficult to use.

OK, been thinking about this post for a while. First, my body is different than yours so this works for me but may not work for you. I have been using it for a couple of weeks before I wrote this. I was reading other reviews and decided I needed to add my experience to this.1) Sizing - I am a 32-34 waist but I wear it above my waist (my belly is just a little bigger). I ordered an XL and I appear to be "between sizes" It almost overlaps but I cannot go all the way around (as others suggested doing) without it being too tight. but fits well enough for me.2) Using - At first I kept trying to use it as described. I actually had worse experience (more water getting in) as I tried to use it as the instructions suggest. By actually just strapping it around about 1 to 2 inches higher than suggested I have much greater results than trying to tuck the bag in the little hole they give, etc.3) Leakage - I have more water get in when used as directed. If I ignore the instructions, don't try to tuck the bag in the hole and just strap it about 1 to 2 inches higher I have almost no water get in. I take very long showers and have about a dozen drops get in. Enough to wet the top of the bandage part. No big deal for me. When used as directed, I had more water leak in (found this out by experimenting day to day)4) Overall - I love the feeling of taking a shower. Even with the few drops that get in, it is worth it to me. My appliance last longer than a week, I change it every week so a few drops of water is not a big deal for me. If you only get a very short time before changing, those few drops of water may be a big deal for you.5) Modification - Again, not a big deal for me but if the few drops are a big deal for you maybe you can put some absorbent gauze or something at the top underneath to catch the few drops that get in (just a thought haven't tried it)For me it is worth it.

With the ostomy bag, getting it wet is uncomfortable, and in many cases makes the adhesive fail. With this device, everything stays dry and comfortable. It is very easy to put on and remove, just a wonderful aid.

This is a must have for a person with a colostomy. It makes showering less stressful. It also lengthens the colostomy appliance life and changes. The material is well made and thick. At first we thought the belt was too long but it's made to wrap around you twice for a tight fit.

I purchased this with high hopes due to some great reviews. However, I was very disappointed to see how small the coverage area was. My bag and flange were both soaked after my shower!! 😭 The design needs to be edited to make the plastic wider and the elastic should be wider in order to keep things dry. I still used tape to cover the sides, but still got wet…sorry, I can’t recommend this for purchase.
