Stainless Steel Dough and Pastry Scraper - Dough and Pastry Cutter - Multipurpose Chopper - Bench Scraper. (5" X 4.5")

I bought this Stainless Steel Dough and Pastry Scraper - Dough and Pastry Cutter - Multipurpose Chopper - Bench Scraper, mainly with Christmas cookie making in mind. I tend to make over 100 dozen cookies around the holidays (I give away most of them but have a hungry husband and 2 kids to eat a lot of them too!) so I needs heavy duty tools to do the job right. I am slowly building my arsenal, this cutter/scraper is among the last of the tools I need.I have not really used it yet (Christmas IS 8 months away after all), however, I have held it and examined it thouroughly and I can say I'm impressed. First, while at first I thought it a drawback, I realized it's a good thing that it's all one piece, since it means it's less likely to break. Adding to that, the fact that it's stainless steel which means there's a good chance it was last a long, long time, and won't rust. I seem to be an expert at rusting tools, so that's a good thing for me. Dishwasher safe is also a big plus, since I hate handwashing anything.I saw another review mention that it was sharp enough to cut dough but not scrape surfaces - so I had to try it out. I went to a corner of my counter top and tested out the theory - they were right! I won't test it on my wood island, but I also won't ever work directly on it without a mat of some sort, so there's no need.Overall, I'm pretty happy with this dough scraper and I'm looking forward to using on my cookie baking in a few months! Good scraper. Has held up well with no signs of wear as of yet.Use it every once in awhile when making breads, pastas and veggies to clean up the surface, cut dough and pick up veg that I've chopped.

I love to bake and when I make dough, my recipe calls for more than 10 cups of flour. You can imagine that I’m working with a lot of it. The Stainless Steel Dough and Pastry Scraper is heaven sent in so many ways. This scraper is a perfect fit in your hand to cut and portion the dough as needed. Often times when I make a batch, I will use it for different purposes and it’s so helpful to have a good scraper to cut the dough.Pros: It fits in the palm of your hand. The round end fits nicely in your hand with a good grip. The stainless steel is a nice weight and thickness. It’s not going to bend or give you trouble. It also isn’t overly long. For me this is good as I don’t typically want it larger than this offers. However others might want it wider. I have medium size hands and my husband has x-lg hands and he likes the feel of it too.Cons: The width. It really just depends on what you are needing. This is a strong, utility scraper. It doesn't bend under weight and is easy to use. It is a heavy duty stainless steel. Those are the things I like. The edge is nice and straight, so it scrapes up dough, etc nicely. That being said, I can't help but compare it to another one I own. This one is smaller. The metal handle is very slippery. There is no texture, no material to help you hold your grip. If you've been making a lot of things that day, your hand slips easily. Also, there is a gap in the handle. One thing I use my scraper for is to help me put ingredients into a pot while cooking. I accidentally had it turned the wrong way (the gap facing up instead of down) and got food all over my floor instead of in the pot. Also, my other bench scraper has measurements on it which comes in handy. This one does not. My other one is half the price of this one, comes from a well respected company, is bigger, has a good, textured handle/grip and measurements on the scraper part. While this is a great product, the fact that my other one is half the price and better makes me give this only three stars.I received this product at a discount/free.
