Peeking into the oven to check the DONENESS of the food you are COOKING or baking is inconvenient and causes the oven TEMPERATURE to lower drastically. Keep the oven door closed. The cooking THERMOMETER PROBE'S cable diameter is small enough to allow it to be closed in an oven door without creating a heat leak. 1 1/2" x 2 1/2 big LCD SCREEN displays all icons, temperature and timer. 40" stainless steel mesh cable is HEAT RESISTANT..

Good but limited
No one gave me this I purchased it so this is a real review.I have used it several times in a 400 degree oven and it works fine. I having tried the 500 degree yet but will update if I do. Others in the past have been rated high temp and burnt up. I bought this based on temp rating, sellers response to my question, and price point.I don't necessarily need the fancy wireless bit although it's pretty cool. I can't give it 5 stars though because the remote part is a little frustrating. The preset temps don't match what I've read anywhere. Chicken I use 165 but it has 175 so I have to use med well beef when cooking chicken. You also can't just set a certain temp it HAS to be a preset. I haven't found one yet that hasn't worked out but that is annoying. Your options are (deg. F): 137, 140, 145, 160, 165, 170, and 175. So if you need 150 you have to set it to 145 and watch it after that. The other issue with the handheld is the display is difficult to see. It stays backlit for only 4 seconds and you have to press a main button to turn it back on (so I press mode twice to go from F to C and back instead of the timer button or my meat button which would change my setup). When it is not backlit it is very difficult to see. You have to pick it up to see it; there is no sitting on the couch and glancing over at it. The pic shows what it looks like from any angle except directly over it.So for me this works fine, and I think it will withstand the high temps which is what I need. I'm very particular so I'm typically watching it like a hawk and the presets don't mean much. If you can love with the limitations I think it's a great choice.

Works great, easy to use
I've used this thermometer only twice thus far, for turkey in a Nesco and a pork tenderloin in the oven, but I think it's great. I especially like the fact that I can take the receiver into the next room or into the house while grilling. I haven't tried a manual setting yet, but this feature does exist--instructions are included in the package. The screen does not stay backlit, but if you pick it up and look at it, it's easy to read without pressing any buttons. I really like it.

It's a Great Insurance Policy against Over Cooked Meat! Please keep it away from the Experimenting Kids...
I have been looking for a cooking thermometer for some time now. When given the opportunity to test out thisgreat cooking device, it was a no brainer! The one thing I can't stand is continually checking my meat to seeif it is done yet, the constant slicing through the chicken or beef to see where it is in the cooking process can driveone to the brink of insanity. Not to mention, the mutilated condition of your protein once you finally take it offthe grill. Also, please note that this device is not intended for checking body temperature. My nephew tried sticking itin his ear because he thought he had a fever. After we cleaned the wax off the stem or wand (what do we evencall this thing?), we were good to go.This Digital Remote Cooking Thermometer saves all the slicing and checking of the meat every minute or twoso you can enjoy yourself a bit while having the peace of mind that your meat isn't going to over cook. The remote allows youthe freedom to get away from the grill while your meat reaches it's optimal temperature. NO one likes it whentheir protein is over cooked and this device helps you avoid that disastrous scenario. Just say no to rubber chickenand over done steak and check out this Wilde Digital Remote Cooking Thermometer for yourself. I used mine tocook some bison burgers on my George Foreman grill. Yum! Yum! I was given the opportunity to review this handy littlegrilling hack in exchange for a discount.Happy Grilling!

Very reasonable thermometer
Super quick delivery, great communication, all as promised. Easy to use I tried it on a 3 lb leg of Lamb roast the other night and I worked like a charm. Set it and forget it. Remote feature works great up too 100 feet away. I thought it was hard to read at first but soon realized it ships with a little plastic cover over the face of it
