My bass will grind you!
YES! This is it! Finally! You know, I've never been happy with the Tech 21 SansAmp pedal (Except for the GT2, that pedal is excellent and IMO better than the SansAmp Bass Driver DI) and people's claims that it sounds the closest to a real Ampeg. I never liked the "tinny" sound that the Tech 21 pedals seem to produce, and their demos on the variety of sounds created by the pedal seem to all sound the same to me.Now enter into the arena, the Catalinbread SFT pedal! Cool simple packaging, cool sticker, from a cool young company! This pedal gives me an incredible amount of Ampeg style of grind. I felt like I was playing on my old Ampeg after a while, my ears were fooled, but convinced nonetheless. This pedal runs on a power supply only (Go to the Catalinbread website to refer to what type of adapter is suitable for whatever particular pedal you purchase). I have an American Standard P-bass tuned to E and detuned to D, with my Catalinbread pedal engaged, I get that Jason Newsted "Crash Course in Brain Surgery" *Chung-chung-chung-chung!* sound. I love it! You'll love it! So buy it!

Great pedal. I play both guitar and bass and ...
Great pedal. I play both guitar and bass and I have used the pedal for both. It excels on both instruments. For bass it gives you that overdriven SVT tone that is the quintessential rock tone, motown sound or all out doom. The bass and treble controls are nice to have, lots of low end available if you need it. Pedal works great for guitar as well. I'm using it through a vox ac15 and it works very well with this amp. Wonderful natural overdrive tones without an overly aggressive midrange hump. I've used dozens of overdrives (tube screamer varients, klons, blues breaker etc) and this is the one I have on my board.I'm only giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the small knobs. They are hard to see while on stage. At a recent gig I noticed my volume had dropped (playing bass) and my assumption was that the sound man lowered my levels. A couple songs later I figured out that I must have accidentally turned down the volume knob a touch on the pedal. It's easy to do as it's very close to the foot switch, or if you happen to drag a cable over your pedalboard. The knobs turn very easily. I also wish the Stones/Stoner button was foot-switchable. I love both settings but it's impossible to use both in a live setting without stopping, bending over and hitting the button with a finger to turn it on/off. I understand the need for small pedals but I would love to have a version of this with 2 foot switches and larger knobs.
