Working Lube, the best CLP available? See below to find out...
I was barely 18 years old when I entered the army across the ocean too many decades ago and have been a gun owner and avid shooter since then. At that time our standard service weapon was the FN FAL Nato 7.62 with standard wooden stocks. I well remember the enormous amount of work and elbow grease required to remove the carbon fouling burnt onto its gas piston. We’ve come a long way since then, and the people and companies that make these solvents and CLP’s should be highly commended not only for making our job a lot easier, but also a whole lot safer. Of course our partners and family members are also grateful for the lack of noxious fumes in these latest solvents thanks to modern chemistry.Needless to say I have tried virtually every solvent available here in the USA during that time. Listed below are the ones that work exceptionally well for me with the least amount of effort. Before I discuss my recommendations I want to note that I highly recommend M-Pro 7 Gun Cleaner as an excellent and non-toxic degreasing agent, but it’s only mediocre at best as a bore solvent. Eezox doesn’t clean the bore quite as well as those listed below, plus it has a very strong odor and needs to be used in a well ventilated area. I still use it on the inside of magazines and springs to keep them in good shape and rust free.Working Lube CLP, Break Free CLP (non-aerosol) and Gunzilla all do an exceptionally excellent job of cleaning the barrel, slide and frame etc. Keeping in mind that no one solvent can eliminate everything, they do an excellent job of removing 100% of the carbon and other grit caked on and about 99% of the copper fouling. In my experience there’s only tiny traces of copper fouling left in the bore which is then easily removed with little effort by KG-12 Copper Solvent. In the photos below you can see my slide and barrel after 200 rounds of FMJ at the range. The next photo shows the feed ramp with heavy carbon caked on, followed by a photo after it was cleaned with Working Lube CLP. I smear it on generously with a clean cotton cleaning patch and let it sit for about 5 minutes. I then wipe it clean with a soft worn out cotton T shirt. And Voila, spotlessly clean!Due to higher pressures and heat inside the barrel it needs a little more effort. I use a wide saturated cotton bud Johnson's Safety Swabs, 185 Count to coat the chamber and bore. After letting it sit for 30 minutes I then scrub it with a copper brush 10 to 12 times, followed up with another saturated cotton bud and an additional 30 minutes soak time. The last photo shows the right side of the bud after the initial coating of the bore and the left side after the copper brush scrubbing, hence it's a lot more dirty.A few clean cotton patches pushed through on a brass jag leaves the bore virtually spotlessly clean. If needed, I repeat the above procedure with KG-12 Copper Solvent in order to remover the last traces of copper fouling. A 30 minute soak in M-Pro 7 Gun Cleaner removes the remaining loose debris and solvents. After thoroughly drying it I coat the bore with a thin coating of Slip 2000 EWL30 oil ,and the outside with a thin coating of Slip 2000 EWG grease.Using the method above, I see NO difference in the results regardless of which of the aforementioned solvents are used. Note that both the Working Lube CLP and the Break Free CLP (the new version with synthetic and natural petroleum products) have virtually no odor at all. Gunzilla has a mild inoffensive oily plant based odor. All clean up very easily.Although I highly recommend any of the aforementioned without reservations, my personal favorite is Working Lube CLP for a number of reasons which may or may not be important to you. While Gunzilla is truly an excellent non-toxic plant based solvent as good as the other two discussed here, it’s not great as a lube as others have discussed elsewhere. Break Free is less expensive than Working Lube CLP, but it’s not 100% synthetic like the latter. These solvents are not expensive and very easy to use, so I highly recommend trying all three in order to see which one works best for you.

This is the second bottle for me. This lube is great. Not greasy or oily goes on smooth and very easy to apply and wipe off. Keeps a sheen and a coating on every part. Cleans and looks great. Buy it, you will not be sorry. Seller and product A +++

but this is a great solution for an all in one bottle
Doesn't get things cleaned as quickly as the smelly stuff, but this is a great solution for an all in one bottle. I've used it to clean my M9 several times and it has done a great job, but I think I'll use it more as a lubricant than a cleaner in the future.

I mainly use Working Lube on my firearms. I must say I am very impressed with the results that I am getting with this product.I use very little and application is a breeze with the included dropper. I have definitely noticed a lot less carbon sticking to parts. Was well worth the money I spent and a bottle should last me a while!
