Not enough suspense
Who stole the Wizard of Oz? by Avi, was a fun, extravagant book to read in my opinion, and it was worth taking the time to read. This book certainly knows how to hook its readers, and won’t let go. This book discusses looking deeper into what we read in our books, and generating connections. Easily a very important theme of this story is that books can lead you to treasure. Although, as Becky and Toby find, the treasure that books can lead you to won’t always be money. But it's the ability to experience, and to share the joy in reading. “A reader lives a thousand lives before they die, a person who never reads only lives one.”Although the book has a strong moral message, it didn’t not make sense the first time I read it, so I read straight through a second time to get a better understanding of what was happening. And aside from the mystery of trying to figure out who stole the books, nothing very intimidating happens. I would understand that finding a book thief, and bringing them to a police station would be more than interesting than just a simple misunderstanding. But I prefer books that have a problem that the characters solve, not just a misunderstanding.Despite how the book hooks it’s readers in the beginning of the story, there wasn’t enough excitement in the book. The first chapter was very passionate and lively, but after that I was only half awake until chapter 12 came along. Sometimes the clues are very catchy, and are very dull. They don’t give us several possible outcomes that leave us stumped. And while the book is intended for younger kids, I still think that there should of been a better sense of vocabulary in the story. In conclusion, I thought this book wasn't the best, but when I read the first chapter, it suddenly got interesting and that’s what matters, the hook. Don't judge a book by it's cover, you won't go anywhere. "Read to Achieve". "Reading is Fundamental".

Four Stars
Good for struggling readers. Not too difficult, but plot sophisticated enough to keep them interested.

Who stole the wizard of oz review
The book I read is called Who Stole the Wizard of Oz? This book is mainly about a girl named Becky. She was accused by the town librarian for stealing a book named The Wizard of Oz. Becky decides to get help from her twin brother Toby and prove her innocence by tracking down the real thief. While Becky and Toby are investigating the case they seem to bump in to other unlikely events. Including that four other books are missing. Soon they found enough information that they can start tracking down the real thief. They try to go to the treasure before the thief gets there first. It turns out that the thief was Mrs. Chesterton, the librarian itself. What I liked about this book is that it was a mystery. I love mysteries especially something like this. I always liked the parts of the investigation. That way if they tell you enough information you can solve the mystery yourself. I tried to solve this mystery, but my guess was wrong. I guessed that Mrs. Brattle did it, the other town librarian. My second guess was Mrs. Chesterton. What I disliked about this book was that the thief should have been someone else. Maybe like Toby, Becky's twin brother. That way it would have been more interesting. I always liked the mysteries that one of the family members turns out to be the thief. So everyone could be surprised and they can get there punishments from there parents. I think that that would be more interesting. My favorite part in this book is once again, the investigation. I like the investigation because it gives you the all the clues. So you can solve the crime as you read too. I also like the part when they find the real thief. I like that part because the real thief could get its punishment and Beck could get off the hook.Hira MotenPeriod 1Who stole the wizard of oz?By: Avi

Not so interesting to a 7 year old
Written by a 7 Year Old Reviewer: It is horrible because it did not make sense unless read straight through, and aside from the mystery of trying to figure it out, nothing cool happens. I would think that finding a thief, catching them to bring them to a police station would be more interesting than a misunderstanding. I like books that have a problem they solve, and not just an accidental misunderstanding. I like Jack and Annie, better, for instance.
