Review: very sensitive to pressure - The PulseSensors arrived in time and there were no damages. Before use, the sensor needs to be protected. There a transparent vinyl pad enclosed for the front and velcro-pads for the back. The (good) instructions tell you to seal it into hot glue, but I will do this later. The examples they provide are nice and work flawlessly. Only the pressure you apply with your finger is critical. A quite light pressure worked best for me, but its hard to be constant. Those raw PPG values can be accessed via library methods. Any regular analogRead of the PulseSensor output will generate a PPG waveform, if one is present. PulseSensor samples at 500Hz, but by default, our sample code down-samples to 50Hz when writing to the Serial port. This is good enough resolution to get a decent view of the signal in the time domain. We also do calculate the BPM and Interbeat Interval. It's a little finicky *by M***S on June 5, 2018* It's a little pricey for what it is. I bought this for a simple project with an Arduino Uno, and it worked fine. It's a little finicky, which I knew to expect when I bought it. It's not a super advanced piece of technology, but it's good for a beginner project. The code online is fine, if I recall correctly, it worked okay, maybe a few adjustments? My favorite part is the velcro that it comes with to attach to your finger. Apparently to use the ear clip, you have to hot-glue the sensor onto the clip. I didn't want to try this for fear of breaking the sensitive pieces on the back of the sensor. It also comes with little vinyl covers for the sensor.
