THe delivery was perfect. The pices were well packed in styrofome. The unit was easy to assemble with a screww gun. Nice color and great finish.

I absolutely love the look , durability, and design. I have it 4 stars because the drawers are hard to align and put in.

I am not the type of person who can put furniture together easily, yet I was able to successfully put this one together by myself. Everything came in good condition and the wood seemed very good quality for the price. We are using it for a night stand in the guest bedroom and it looks and fits perfectly. I looked at probably a hundred different nightstands before settling on this one. Ultimately, I'd definitely recommend!

We had previously bought four Simpli Home pieces in a different line (the Artisan series), and we were quite pleased with them, especially the construction and ease of assembly (if you have some experience with basic hand tools). The construction of the Amherst pieces was equally good (the hardware was high quality with no missing parts, the holes all lined up, etc), but the finish seems to be very thin and fragile. For instance, we dropped a small plastic level from a short distance onto the top of one piece while putting up some wall art, and it removed enough of the finish to leave a thin whitish mark, probably because the bare pine wood is showing through. I was tempted to put a few coats of polyurethane on the tops before they get more damage, but I was afraid it wouldn't be compatible with the current finish. If anyone has tried to put on a protective coating, please post the results. I wish the manufacturer realized that we would be willing to pay a bit more if they would make the finish more durable. These pieces will not stand up to normal wear.For anyone who has done finishing of bare woods with stain covered by a clear protective coating: it appears that the color on these pieces doesn't penetrate the wood at all, but instead is part of a single thin coating. This means that any damage to the finish removes all the color. Also, since the color is a very dark brown, the finish is very opaque and you can't see much grain through it. You don't don't get much of a "real wood" look.I agree with others who say that it would be very difficult to pack these pieces back up for return. To be fair, this is mostly because they are very well padded and wrapped with many pieces of foam to protect them during shipping.

I call it low commitment furnitiure because I got it on sale for under $200. Still, if it wasn't hard to take apart, I'd return it. Actually I still might return it. The first one came with a defective part and they couldn't just replace the part, so I took it back and tried again. Buyers remorse. Looks good BUT whatever it's made of is cheap, thin, cracks and chips easily. Drawers don't open smoothly AT ALL. The drawers are why I got it. But getting the cap locks to go in straight was a challenge and might be why. I'd pay more for real wood already assembled. I miss the good old days.

This product came damaged in multiple areas, covered in some sticky glue substance that isn’t coming off, gave me splinters trying to put together. The veneer surface was chipping off as I was putting screws in. Rough finished in parts, imperfections everywhere. The inside of the drawers was all rough, don’t put any silk or anything in there, it will shred it.Looks cute from a distance and has nice slider hardware, but avoid at all costs.

Nightstand

We ordered two of these tables. As the other reviews noted, when we built the first one the drawers didn't fit correctly and wouldn't open or close without a fight. When we put the second one together we realized that when you are attaching the top to the sides, pull the side panels inward as you attach the top. This puts the rails for the drawers in the correct place. The drawers slid right in and work great. Now were going to reassemble the first one so it works great too. Hope this helps.
