One of the best albums of the Disco era.
Diana Ross has been a superstar forever it seems and her catalog (including her work with the Supremes) is one of the finest in the history of recorded pop music, iconic song after iconic song. Given that, this album still remains, in my opinion, her finest to date. It came out at the tail end of the Disco era in America, but still managed to produced a number one dance hit in "The Boss" (covered among others by Kristine W) and a string of other uptempo numbers like "No One Gets The Prize" and "I Ain't Been Licked." There are gorgeous ballads, as well, like "Sparkle." None of the songs are throwaway generic pap. They are well written, with stunning melodies; a feat of excellence from the legendary team of Ashford and Simpson, who not too much later gave us the sublime "Found A Cure." If you need further prodding to give this album a chance just play the first few seconds of "The Boss" and watch the doors of "Heaven" open up for you.

Excellent remaster of the Final Ike and tina Turner album ...
Excellent remaster of the Final Ike and tina Turner album that was originally released much delayed on Fantasy records in 1980 as "Ike Turner featuring Tina Turner and home grown funk" 4 years after Ike and Tina split up.The Album opens with the single "shame shame shame" which has Tina Turner vocals and was a hit at the time in Belgium and the Netherlands. 4 more Tina tracks follow including 'Elton john's Philadelphia freedom and Bill Withers "use me". Side 2 of the album opens with the funky "Party Vibes" but the remaining 4 Ike Turner tracks are less interesting and seem to be just recorded to fill the record.Overall a good album which gives us a glimpse how Ike and Tina would have evolved in the 80's if they had continued to record together

Yes,,, it sounds better and is worth the money!!
Please check out the numerous reviews posted to learn the history of Diana's best album. This review is for the many fans who already own this album, several times over, and are on the fence about buying it, yet one more time, because of a sound upgrade. Well, I can tell you that there is a noticeable improvement from the 1999 CD reissue. The sound is much sharper and crisper, like a layer of fabric has been removed from your speakers. This is the best I have heard this material on compact disc: so make this your final upgrade. *** As a footnote, the best way to hear this album on lp is on the promotional record pressed on gold vinyl.

Nice reissue but NOT 180 gram
Very nice reproduction of classic Motown album. Looks and sounds good. Contrary to product description this is not 180 gram vinyl. Far from it.

Wonderful album, but it doesn't appear to be 180 gram vinyl as advertised on several websites!

Bad reproduction
Very disappointing release, a $4 record from the used store would be better than this tiny, terrible sounding cash grab. Not a quality mastering or pressing.Ours arrived damaged and is going back.
