Your Hope Customer Reviews: 3-1/2 stars -- Title? June 13, 2005 By Anthony Rupert Format:Audio CD When the Calling first released "Wherever You Will Go", it took a few months before the mainstream hooked on to it, and then eventually it became so popular that it stayed in the top 40 for over a full year. But subsequent singles weren't up to par, and then it seemed like the band dropped off the face of the Earth (unless you count Alex Band's substitution for Chad Kroeger in Santana's "Why Don't You & I"). But now the band came back with Two, which is titled as such because of one of the following reasons: 1) it's the band's second album, 2) the band has been cut down to only two members, or 3) only two people own this album. All jokes aside, I looked at the other reviews on here, and the reviewers are completely split down the middle; people either say the album is terrible or remarkable. So I guess it looks like I'm playing neutral when I say that the album is just okay. The album starts out GREAT, though, with tracks like "One By One" and the leadoff single, "Our Lives". And the romantic "Chasing the Sun" may look a little corny on paper, but to hear it is to enjoy it. It's too bad that that formula doesn't work as well with the other love-oriented songs. "If Only" is okay, but "Anything" could stand a rewrite; and sorry, but "Surrender" is cheesier than a Savage Garden song. And there's also the obligatory end-of-album keep-your-head-up song, "Your Hope", that really doesn't come off more than tolerable. While the Calling didn't really break any new ground with this record, it's still an above-average album, so if you like light rock, feel free to give it a spin. Anthony Rupert

The Better of the Two
I love this! It’s rare when I like every song on an album... except when it comes to The Calling or Alex Band. While their first album garnered more attention and accolades, I think this one is so much better, and totally underrated. There’s a nice mix of sounds, way beyond just the songs picked for radio play. If you like The Calling then you need this in your music collection!

Timeless
There isn't a song that Alex has put out that I don't like. His music is uplifting, inspiring, touching, moving. Every moment, every situation, he's able to touch on that, to reach his audience, and express that which we all feel at one point or another. His music is timeless and his dedication to his craft is astounding. No other artist in my experience has put forth the amount of effort that Alex has.

A CD You Don't Want to Pass By!
The new Cd from The Calling does not disappoint die hard fans and will draw in many new fans. The boys have grown up but have not lost their sincerity or raw musical talent. This CD is a must have for anyone who appreciates great music, beautiful vocals and meaningful lyrics. The best songs on the CD are "Anything", "Things Will Go My Way" and "Somebody Out There". All the songs have their own unique style and the lyrics are deeply woven. This is one of those rare CDs that you cannot skip over any tracks. You won't tire of this CD anytime soon. Great Job ~ The Calling!

I wish this band had stayed together for longer. I really love this album and it's still a favorite even after all these years.

Two for You!
This sophomore effort by The Calling shows a maturity and intensity beyond "Camino Palmero." "Two" features heartfelt vocals by Alex Band, especially on the tracks "Anything" and "Things Will Go My Way." It is so refreshing to be able to understand the lyrics and hum along to the melodies, which is so hard to find amongst many new bands. Give this CD a couple of listens before forming an opinion. It grows on you to the point where you can't get these songs out of your head.

Cd superlativo !!
Che dire di questo cd ?!?! Semplicemente fantastico !!

Wasn't sure then WOW!!
Having been a huge fan of Camino Palmero, I couldn't wait to get hold of Two. I've had it about a week now and it's been playing constantly in my car ever since. For the first 2 or 3 plays, I really wasn't sure if I was that taken by it (apart from Our Lives which I'd already listened to many many times), but then on the 4th or 5th play, all the tracks seemed to suddenly grab my attention. Now, I think it's an absolutely brilliant album and well worth the wait. It does seem to have a different feel about it, compared to Camino Palmero - some tracks remind me a bit of Jazz or Blues bar music - don't know why! If you're not sure about it when you first hear it, listen a couple more times - it will suddenly click.
