wooDsom - The Original Premium Wooden Toaster Tongs (Hickory)

I had a shorter version of these tongs that lasted many years, but I mishandled it and it broke. After visiting a couple of kitchen gadget shops all I could find were tongs (many) that were too clumsy (thick) to fit into a toaster and still have room to maneuver or even open wide enough to grab the toast. I knew I had to replace the thin bladed one I broke. Amazon to the rescue.These are a couple of inches longer than they need to be, but at least they work! While the length of these might be helpful if you were trying to remove some crust of bread that got lodged at the bottom of your toaster, a simpler solution in those rare cases is to simply shake it out over the sink, or remove it from the bottom if there is an access. My issues with the length are: it will be easier for them to break due to increased leverage; and counter and drawer space is at a premium. If you have a convenient place to attach it (I don't, due to the length) the built-in magnet is very strong.

We were tired of burning our knuckles trying to fish small breads from our toaster with our shorter tongs. I don't expect much from new USA made products what with the necessary cost cutting to try to compete with imports, but WOW! These tongs are terrific. The tongs are wide enough on the sides that will be against the bread to hold anything I've tried securely and they are thin in the other direction, so they pick up anything with just a light squeeze, and I do mean anything, from bagels and focaccio to Ry-Vita (a thin crispbread) and Pita quarters.The thinness means they don't bang into grid wires inside the toaster slots -- with anything but breads so thick I probably shouldn't have tried to stuff them into the toaster anyway. They're very sensibly unfinished, they are indeed hickory -- the tough wood from which handles of professional quality knives are often made-- and the magnet is even stronger than that on the old tongs: the nearest steel surface to our toaster is the often problematical embossed surface of my refrigerator and the Woodsom tongs cling very securely.The tongs also came with a very nice follow-up letter from Woodson, to which it was possible to reply as an email reply or by using the link.

We were looking for wooden tongs that would not scratch up our ceramic waffle maker - looking to avoid teflon and plastics. The waffles are large enough that I was using a pair of plastic tongs and a plastic bowl scraper. This product fit the bill. I knew based on the waffle size that we would need two of them. Three features stood out to me. The wood was all one piece, so I did not have to worry about glue wearing out. Second, the magnet was a nice feature. When it arrived, I stuck it right to the side of the fridge, near the toaster. Third, it was made in the USA. I will pay a little more for a product that is made here in the USA, add in the magnet and the single piece construction and that made it worth the extra cost. I have not used it much yet, but exactly what I expected.

I bought these to replace toaster tongs I've had for forty years, before they were commercially available (my husband accidentally broke them). I chose these tongs because they're made in the USA, and are a single piece of wood instead of two glued pieces. I was pleasantly surprised when these arrived because they're beautiful and well-crafted, not just functional. The pattern of the wood is lovely, there are no rough edges and it's super easy to remove things from the toaster because the tongs are thinner at the tips. Why aren't all toaster tongs like that? I also love the mega-strong magnet embedded in the "hinge" end. I have my tongs attached to the side of the microwave, conveniently next to my toaster. Perfect! I expect these tongs to last for the rest of my life, barring any accidents. I highly recommend these tongs!

I just bought these tongs and after having worked in a kitchen specialty shop which sold bamboo toaster tongs, which did not seem very durable, these set the bar very high for competitors. I know that toaster tongs are not major players in your kitchen, but having read numerous negative reviews on Amazon about numerous bamboo tongs falling apart after one or two uses, these are the way to go, folks. They are surprisingly flexible because of the unique design. They are made out of carved hickory and are quite lovely. You can "pick up a car" with the incredibly strong magnet at the top :) It takes little or no effort to squeeze these to grab your toast.( I am a senior citizen) I washed them. Let them dry thoroughly and oiled them with bamboo oil. These are pretty much a no brainer purchase and I love supporting companies in the US! Great job Woodsom!

I actually purchased these to use for cooking bacon. I need to switch to cast iron pans so I can just use steel tongs... but currently I have teflon coated pans. Plastic tongs tend to melt eventually and using these wooden tongs for bacon did not work well. The only way to grab the bacon with these was to slide a tong underneath it with an odd twist of the wrist. I even altered the tips to provide more grabbing ability and they still have a hard time. I'm going to use boiling water and warp the wood in my favor so I think I will be able to modify these to my liking.If you buy these for toast however, I'm sure they'll work out wonderfully!

This little tong is used every time we use our toaster! The magnet makes it so handy to hang on our refrigerator close by. I noticed my son using it too, so I had to buy another one for him to use in his new condo!

Nice, non-conducting wooden tongs. Smoothly finished with a convenient (and strong) magnet in the handle so that they can be hung out of the way. The slender wooden blades slide easily onto both sides of the toasted bread. My only difficulty did not relate to the tongs themselves. When I opened the outer shipping box, it was full of ants! Since I didn't know the source of these, I ran outside with the box and killed them with a fly swatter.
