This is the latest upgrade (Feb.2016) kit for the Delrin Plunger. It can be used for many RepRap based 3D printers including Makerbot Replicator 2 and 1. This new version improves the cooling process of the cold end by separating the stepper motor from the aluminum block. If you are experiencing print failures every time you use a new filament, that is because of the existing plunger on your extruder that cannot adapt to the diameter tolerance of the cheaper filaments. I have had issues even with some of the Makerbot filaments, but this upgrade will solve this issue. You are buying a Makerbot Delrin Plunger replacement kit/Extruder Upgrade kit as shown in the first image. This is a picture of the actual item you will get (it does not include the stepper motor/drive gear). This kit includes everything needed to replace the delrin plunger on your Makerbot Replicator 2 and 1 with a spring-loaded ball bearing assembly. This product is assembled and is a revised version of what Makerbot introduce in several aspects: · Made with Polyurethane plastic (Not PLA, Not ABS) . It is hand cast and tested. · One-piece arm with a stainless steel ball bearing shaft and ball bearing, so no worries about wear of the bearing holder after few hours. · A nylon bushing has been replaced with the 3d printed plastic pivot in the existing products for a maximum durability. The base is stronger than the previous models and separates the Stepper motor from the extruder.
