They don't work as well for me, but I get a slight increase in energy/ B12 levels. Do you know how to recognize your B12 levels without going to a doc? Check your nails. At the bottom of the nail bed, above your cuticle, you should have white half moons. They will be higher on your dominant hand and disappear lastly from your thumbs. If you have none on your thumbs or dominant hands, you're in a bad state! You may even want to see a doctor about injections. Now that I have been working with a doctor and learned this, I keep track of my levels by looking at the half moons.
