I don’t think I’ll ever understand the dichotomy of the coral reef chroma. The brilliant colors displayed are astounding but are invisible to our eyes. Science explains that the deeper you travel in the ocean, the more neutral these color values will appear. The first color to fade to the neutrality of a black-and-white photo is red. It makes one wonder if schools of reef fish celebrate Valentine’s Day as the greatest gray holiday of the year thereby giving new meaning to “Gray Power!”
