This is one of the best available real time clock modules available for your integrated projects. It works great with only 2 wires required for I2C communication with a host device such as an Arduino or Rasp Pi. You also need to connect two wires for power. All of the pins are labelled in the silkscreen so it's easy to setup. If you want to utilize the battery backup, you can use a regular coin cell but the circuit is designed for a LIR2032 rechargeable cell so that it can remain accurate infinitely. This module also features temperature adjustment and touts an extremely accurate precision of about one minute of error per year. Below is manufacturer's info: Specification: Size: 38 x 22 x 14mm Weight: 8g Temperature accuracy: 3 C Maximum transmission speed: 400KHz (working voltage of 5V) Feature: Low-cost, accurate I2C real-time clock (RTC) module with a temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) improving long-term accuracy Precise temperature sensor, through the I2C interface for access Rechargeable battery LIR2032, maintaining accurate timekeeping without main power Automatically adjusted including corrections for leap year Calendar alarm clock with two programmable square-wave output Generating seconds, minutes, hours, day, month and year timing till 2100 Cascaded with other IIC device, 24C32 addresses can be shorted A0/A1/A2 modify default address is 0x57 Rechargeable battery LIR2032, preventing the system from power failure Wiring instructions (with Arduino uno r3 for example): SCL→A5 SDA→A4 VCC→5V GND→GND Package included: 1x DS3231 AT24C32 IIC module

Unreliable
One unit failed within a month. It stopped issuing interrupts, rendering it useless in my clock project. Hoping the other one lasts a bit longer. I wouldn't recommend this vendor.

Works as advertised.
It does what it is supposed to do, it is also inexpensive. The only reason for four stars instead of five is that there is no documentation that comes with it. I am using it with an arduino nano to build a clock that displays the time on some large 7 segment displays that I built.

Works great. What can i say but thank you
Got it on time. Works great. What can i say but thank you.

Great and inexpensive RTC
I purchased two of these for my time-based projects, and found some fantastic setup scripts to program it through an Arduino.LED light indicates power on.Has proven will keep time via battery power. No complaints so far.

Works well
Works great and at a good price. I needed this for real time using Arduino in a project. It took a while to find the right library for my use and there is existing code out there that works without you have to do it from scratch. I ran the setup sketch to set the time and then uploaded another sketch to show constant time.

No Battery? Really?
No Battery? Really? its like buying a car without tires....wow.. I guess this is like Ebay... you better read the description real close. they were real carefully to not show the battery side. I am thinking these may go back.
