I wish I would have bought this book first!
I would like to go to the Navy as a MP, when I spoke with a recruiter she told me to study for the ASVAB however she stated not to get the ASVAB for Dummies but to get CD's and checkout a book from the library. EPIC FAIL! I graduated high school in 1999 I literally didnt remember any math problems on the practice test and I felt completely stupid after just receiving my BA degree from an accredited college. I took the time to order the ASVAB for Dummies and I must say I was kicking myself in the butt for not ordering this book FIRST! This book is GREAT for jogging the memory and helping you understand the problems, understanding why you should do them the way its explained and how to eliminate certain answers, because the ASVAB is a timed test. I'm still studying from this book because I am using other sources and I would like to score high on the ASVAB. I would recommend this book to anyone considering the military or about to take the ASVAB. Regardless what your current education level is this will help prepare you for the test. I would recommend giving yourself a couple months to study so you can actually understand what your doing and your able to apply for the job you want in the military.

Nice prep
This is a nice little prep. Do not expect it to teach you anything, it is just for refreshment. If you do not know how to deal with fractions or how to do Algebra or something, then move along, but it is a nice refresher course, especially if you are taking the ASVAB in a month or less as it is pretty quick to go through.Remember this only covers the AFQT, so, get the other ASVAB for dummies if you want it to cover the whole test (or get both like I did). This covers the part that gives your "main score" though. And if you do well on this you basically also did fine on your G section (Air Force) or GT section (Army).I ended up getting a 97 AFQT score (which I never thought I would get), but I don't attribute that to this book, but it definitely did helped me out. Hint: Make some note cards with some of the facts in this book.

Great study aid. A few math typos though.
This book definiely helped give me a feel for the ASVAB AFQT and it has some great information. I feel confident going into the test now.It was however very vague sometimes when it came to working with big numbers. I was kinda lost when I had figure out 127,750/365 or find the square root of 49,513.25 in the practice tests. There were also a few typos that I ran across. You might want to fix these before getting into the book, or they could be potentially confusing. They may have been fixed in later prints of the book, but these are the mistakes I found in mine:Pg 126: The very last thing on the page should be 10:02, not 6:02.Pg 240: The equasion on the next to last line should be "384/9 = 42.66", not "384/3 = 42.66"Pg 248: The correct answer to question 10 corresponds to C, not BThere's one or two more before page 126, but I didn't write them down. Good luck.

Proud of my "future Sailor's" high scores on his ASVAB!
I bought this book and ASVAB for Dummies for my son who was (at the time and now IS) going into the Navy when he graduates this year. I was skeptical at first, wondering if 1. he would actually use them and 2. would they really help him get a better score. He had a VERY high goal score because the particular job he wanted to qualify for required a high score. We were not disappointed. I helped him study, we didn't need flash cards or anything else, just these books! Well, he made the score for the job he wanted. Great books, worth the investment unless you just want to coast (see what I did there?) by and pass. I have to add, I'm so proud of my son! GO NAVY!

Good, but use with another study guide
This was good, but I found that it wouldn't be enough. The math section was easy to understand, but not 100% complete. You'll be able to cover pretty much all the possible mathematical concepts using this book and another by a different publisher. I bought this one so I could highlight and scribble as much as I needed, and checked out another guide from the library to cover anything this one may have missed. Overall, it was pretty helpful and I'm glad I bought it.

In-depth and informative!
I am currently enlisted in the DEP program for air force and this book helped me to get a whopping 7 pages of jobs I could choose from! My recruiter was blown away haha! Overall I got an 83 afqt with 80+ in every category including a 91 in electronics! The practice tests were the key to developing a system involving both speed and accurate guessing. I wish I had done them all, I would've definitely improved my score.. though like I said an 83 grants me any job I want so I can't complain.Awesome supplement to a seasoned mind.. you gotta know a little bit of everything but I'm sure you already knew that ;)

ASVAB AFQT For Dummies
This is honestly the best book out no doubt. I originally scored a 48 on my AFQT my sophmore year in Highschool, so i got to retake it. I wanted to study this time and get a better score, and i saw this book primarily focused on the 4 subsections that create your AFQT Score and GT Score for my job. Then i saw it was only like 8$!!!! Thats almost 12$ cheaper then in stores. I got it started studying for about 2 weeks. Took my test and Scored a 68 with a 113 GT Score. Now because of this book i get to go Army Rangers! Thank you so much Amazon!
