It takes a while for this thing to read a temperature. It doesn't jump to the temperature you're trying to read but climbs, so if you're trying to read a 190 degree brisket, you have to watch it climb from air temperature to 190. It takes a while.

Easy to use. Seems accurate enough, matches the temperature of my other thermometers. Way to slow though, takes almost 30sec to get a reading, which is too long over a hot grill.

I had the old traditional thermometer that takes a long time to read the temperature. I held off on spending money on another thermometer, until one day the instructions on the meat I was cooking mentioned multiple times to ensure that the meat is fully cooked up to 160 degrees. I used my old thermometer and the dial didn't even budge.I purchased this because of the instant read, and I'm happy to report that it works to measure the temperature even if you just use the tip. I found the instructions really funny! The "hold" function instructions made no sense but it was written in English. You just have to read it to get what I'm talking about. Anyways, it's pretty explanatory. Insert the thermometer, push the hold button so that when you pull the thermometer out...the display doesn't change.I received this product at a discount for for my honest and unbiased review.

I'm doing so because of the MIN/MAX button. I don't know what it's for nor could I figure that out with the accompanying directions. And also because even though it comes in a cylindrical plastic package, it's really not that great for storage.This could be my fault because I assumed (you know the break down of that word) that you could set a high or low temperature and somehow this would beep and let you know. But after reading the description over again after receiving it, I see that it doesn't state that. So, I'm at a loss as to the purpose of them.I bought this to more or less to replace a different brand of digital thermometer  CDN DTC450 Digital Candy Thermometer  which I use quite often. More so for making yogurt than candy. But there isn't a button on it to turn it off. In my mind it's a waste of battery power. However it does allow you to set a temperature as your high point and alerts you as it's nearing it. This is very important in yogurt making as well as other uses.I guess I thought it would do what my other one did based on it's original price (not the sale price), but allow me to shut it off so I feel complete when the job is done! ha haI deducted another star because at full price it doesn't compare to the other thermometer as far as features as well as a covering for the probe and associated accessories. At it's current price point (on sale), it is an excellent bargain but not at full price in my opinion.I've tested it against other thermometers and it's right on mark with accuracy and speed.I will most likely use this when grilling because it has a decent length to the probe.All and all not a bad purchase....just not what I thought it would be.

The KitchenDreams thermometer feels pretty sturdy. It's long (9.5") and skinny (7/8"), so it's pretty easy to fit in a kitchen drawer. It comes in a plastic tube, but mine didn't include a top to close it up, so I threw it away. The temperature is accurate--I compared with known good thermometers. My one complaint is that this thermometer takes quite a while to find the temperature. One example....I wanted to know the temperature of my milk to see if I had heated it enough for making yogurt. This thermometer took 35 seconds to tell me the milk was 179 degrees.

This exceeded all my expectations. It works perfectly and is very easy to read. It switches from Celsius to Fahrenheit with a push of a button and you can easily replace the battery as well. I found the instructions to be a little odd but after a minute of using this I had it figured out. The probe is nice and long to fit any thickness of meat up to about 6" and comes in a protective case with a handle for hanging.
