Eye opener
I am a Hindu. I grew up eating meat because all the Hindus I knew didn't think anything was wrong with it. We'd just "fast" for religious occasions. I stopped eating meat for ethical reasons namely factory farming and then realized that it's more than just not eating meat. I needed to stay away from all products resulting from animal suffering and cruelty. So out went dairy etc. I feel so much happier and proud of myself for making this decision. This book was able to make me realize that the scriptures also support my decision although many of my fellow Hindus don't and will continue to live in ignorance.

Great perspective
If you really want to learn more about the Vaishnava tradition of vegetarianism, this book is for you. It offered a great perspective on the history of vegetarianism in India as well and also compares and contrasts different religions and their thoughts on eating meat. If you're not so much into religion, then this book would also appeal to you as it speaks from the heart on animal kindness and reverence. A great read.
