Robo Telugu DVD (Endhiran in Telugu)

Compared the the other version of this film on Amazon (the Tamil uncut special edition, or the other version that is 2-DVDs), this is a poor DVD. First of all, it is a dub. And a poor one at that. Even if you can't speak Tamil, its nice when the mouth movements match the voice. This doesn't happen in this DVD. Second, this is a DVD-5. It is highly compressed and doesn't look good. If you have a small TV, it might not matter for you. Anyway, I was disappointed with this DVD, so I took a chance on the other one which cost $5 more, but it was worth the different. Just my $.02. The movie itself is great. They could have cut out about 20 minutes of the non-action, but its a fantastic film nevertheless. Highly recommended movie - just not this DVD.

This dubbed version of Endhiran isn't up to snuff. I don't speak any variation of Indian, but the mouth movements aren't synced well and at least for me this was hugely distracting to the point where I didn't enjoy the movie. I'd pass on this Telugu dubbed version and find a copy of the original Tamil version even if it costs slightly more. I think there's a reason why this is going for $5. Sadly, you get what you pay for. Just my $.02

August 2011: Sad to report that the star of the movie has died. he is a national hero in India.###First, note that this is not entirely in English, but between the English sentences and the subtitles, it works just fine. Purportedly the most expensive India "Bollywood" movie made to date, it is a delightful mix of themes from AI, iRobot, Terminator and (believe it or not) Frankenstein. Oh yeah, a bit of Transformers in the last 40 minutes tops it off.But there's also singing and dancing!The good professor designs his robot a bit too well, adding synthetic emotions to help make Robo make better decisions. But then Robo innocently falls in love with the professor's fiance and cannot fullfil his operational guidelines as defender that will replace troops, etc. He falls into the hands of the bad guy, who adds another chip that enables Robo to be bad and replace terrorists. And it gets wilder after that. This is a LONG movie, better enjoyed in parts as the story twists here and there. Funny, romantic, and remarkable special effects and computer work from teams all around the word. Not nearly as morose as AI and more fun than iRobot. The cover is a shot from one of the musical numbers and in no way represents the look of the movie. It's just a cool film. Get a LOT of popcorn, settle in and watch. Films from India are very chaste, so even the kids can watch.
