This Cold Weather Three Chamber Bat House Kit is designed for colder weather climates where the average summer temperatures are below 85 degrees F. Without the vents on the front of the bat house it will hold heat throughout the body of the bat houses keeping bats warmer in colder climates. It should be painted black after assembly for the best results. A quality Bat House Kit based on research and bat needs and not based on cheap materials and shipping size. This is not a bunch of boards to nail together, this bat house is made from high quality materials with cut roosting grooves and tab and slot design utilizing screws for assembly. With this bat house kit you can build your own bat house that rivals the design, capacity and quality our commercial production bat houses we sell to companies, corporations, farmers and government entities. This bat house kit is designed to meet all Bat Conservation International (BCI) certification requirements, and is BCI Certified once built and painted.  Its unique tab and slot design makes assembly so easy a first grader can do it.  The kit comes mitered, grooved and ready to assemble. Includes screws and complete instructions for assembly and placement guidelines. All Cold Weather Bat House Kits should be painted black. Available roost volume = 660 cubic inches This one chamber kit can house an estimated 200 - 300 bats* (depending on species). Cold Weather Bat House Kit is only available in 3 chambers. *We attempt to be honest with our estimates allowing approx. 3 cubic inches for each bat. This includes an allowance for unused space since the bats will not pack the house top to bottom. Some species will crowd in very tightly, others will not thus the true capacity will be a range not a specific number. Our volume measurement excludes the volume consumed by the internal baffles and all bat house capacities should be compared using volume, not a count of bats.

H4Bats is a great company!
H4Bats were so quick to respond to my emails even on a holiday weekend which surprised me! I've been on a timeline and they were very accommodating to help me get this amazing bat house all the way to Alaska. I assembled my bat house which was very easy to do since they had great instructions printed in color and in a LARGE and legible font size. They also have VIDEOS you can follow so really it is very easy. I am painting my bat house now so I can't speak to whether or not bats will live here especially since not much is known about the bat ecology in Alaska but I will be sure to update if they do. They are a conservation concern and if they do take up residence I will be able to provide more information about our Little Brown Bats. It's important to know that this bat house is BCI certified. I am on a natural resource conservation program through the USDA and will be reimbursed for the purchase of the bat house and a pole. Needless to say, my contact person through the program was VERY pleased with my choice so therefore I recommend H4Bats for anyone interested in bringing bats to their yard.

Best Bat house on the market
Would have given 5 stars but instructions and video did not give enough directions regarding painting. Only said to paint it black and then late retracted that and advised dark brown. Not clear as to whether bottom landing that extends below the box should be painted or stained. Should any protection be applied to interior surfaces? Still waiting on answers. Otherwise it is an extremely high quality product. All parts fit perfectly. However don't go by written instructions alone. You must watch the video for important methods for a proper assembly. I added asphalt shingles to the roof also. Can't wait til they take up residence. Mosquitoes are bad this year.
