Use a large diaphragm condenser (LDC - requires 48v phantom power) for vocals. Someone said the 57 and 58 are the same, this is NOT true. The capsules are different with the 58 being a GREAT choice for LIVE vocals. The 57 is an earlier design and was more of a jack of all trades mic. Studio recording (no matter where it is isolation booth or bedroom) is about capturing the cleanest signal possible, that really requires a LDC mic where vocals are concerned. One exception is metal vocals, in that case the SM7B LDD (Large Diaphragm Dynamic - no phantom power) is the better choice. Dynamic mics can take higher SPL than condensers. **Q: What is the difference in this SM57-LC and the SM57? I can't seem to find what the LC is about.** A: The LC stands for "Less Cable." As in it doesn't come with a cable. Shure used to sell a model that did come with a cable. As Raffael's link pointed out, they no longer sell the one with the cable. The microphones themselves, however, were exactly the same. So there's NO difference between an SM57-LC and SM57. **Q: can it be attached to a video camera with a cable?** A: The Shure 57 has a standard balanced audio XLR connector. You will need an adaptor or cable that converts XLR to the type of connector on your video camera. Shouldn't be a problem to find one. Other than that, its suitability will depend on your use. If you are using it "off camera" and reasonably close to your subject, it should be great. If you are mounting it on the camera somehow, be aware that it is not a highly directional microphone and you'll be recording most sounds in front of the camera. Good Luck. **Q: hello,Can i use this with xvive u3 on pa monitor?** A: Probably, if it has an XLR input or you can use a connector that can adapt it to your PA. Keep in mind that this is not a phantom powered mic. ## Frequently Bought Together - Shure SM57 Pro XLR Dynamic Microphone - Professional Studio & Live Performance Cardioid Mic for Instruments, Recording for Drums, Percussion, & Instrument Amplifier Miking (SM57-LC) - Shure A2WS Locking Microphone Windscreen - Reduces Unwanted Breath and Wind Noise, Black - Compatible with SM57 and 545 Series Mics (A2WS-BLK) - InnoGear Microphone Stand, Tripod Boom Arm Floor Mic Stand Height Adjustable Heavy Duty with Carrying Bag 2 Mic Clips 3/8" to 5/8" Adapter for Singing Podcast for Blue Yeti Shure SM58 SM48 Samson Q2U --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.be/products/255542368-shure-sm57-dynamic-instrument-microphone-cardioid-studio-ready-for-live](https://www.desertcart.be/products/255542368-shure-sm57-dynamic-instrument-microphone-cardioid-studio-ready-for-live) --- *Product available on Desertcart Belgium* *Store origin: BE* *Last updated: 2026-10-18*
