Denizen Cucina Garlic Press

Great garlic press. A little heavier than the old one I had for years but so much better. I love the feel of it and it works so smoothly and easy to clean. Wish I had not waited so long to buy. The packaging is perfect for part of a gift basket and I know I will purchasing again for gifts.

The garlic press broke after only 3 months of use. This product does not provide enough leverage to make it easy enough to press garlic through.The self cleaning feature does not work. I do NOT recommend this product.

Works great! Can’t complain. Study 1 year later and no tarnishing

Technically speaking this should be one of the best most convenient tools.Mechanically speaking, the product I got was misaligned and imprecise lending to just as much frustration as any other.Needs to actually guide the garlic rather than just mash between two flat surfaces. What you end up with is a flat garlic wad. Some goes through but only because some must. The rest just gets squished inside.

I really wanted to love this garlic press. It is attractive and appears very well made. The construction is solid and the weight of the piece alone led me to believe it is a quality piece of kitchen equipment. The garlic press just does not perform very well. I cook ALOT. and with ALOT of garlic. I have a garlic press from William Sonoma that I have used for over 10 years that is tarnished and looks worn, but I can press 2-3 cloves of garlic at once with ease. The denizen garlic press takes both hands and a considerable amount of force just to crush / press a single clove. I am not an engineer, but I am assuming it has something to do with the hole size / pattern. After the first use, I thought it was a fluke and blamed it on the head of garlic from before. BUT, I have now tried to use it numerous times, with cloves from numerous heads of garlic and each time I am disappointed in the effort. If you are looking for an attractive kitchen utensil and only intend to use occasionally, it may be a great addition to your kitchen drawer. I keep finding myself grabbing my old beat up garlic press that works with ease.

Because I always press garlic rather than chopping it, some days I'm washing our older garlic press several times a day for several different recipes. I’m happy to be adding this new garlic press to our utensil drawer.My initial impression of the Denizon Cucina garlic press was – wow! The box was so heavy I expected to find more than one item in it, but the press is really just that weighted/sturdy.How does it stand up to the dishwasher? Although I don’t mind a dull garlic press, I enjoy using shiny kitchen tools. To fit it into the utensil basket, it must be closed completely, so make sure to rinse completely before doing that. Or, open it completely to place in a utensil tray or on the top shelf. It was still very shiny after the first dishwasher cycle.The large basket size will hold cloves from the larger varieties of garlic that we grow; we have to cut some of them in half to fit them in the basket of our other garlic press. I was concerned that the large, open basket design might push the cloves out of the unclosed end, but that did not happen. If anything, the cloves were concentrated toward the lower (enclosed) end of the basket. One way I minimized that issue was holding the press level horizontally to help keep the cloves distribute in the basket. The basket is very large, and I put more garlic in it than usual, making it more difficult to press through. Because I have poor hand strength, I will be mindful not to put too many cloves in at once in future. This is such a heavy duty press that I don’t think it would be an issue for people with normal to strong hand strength.This garlic press is a dream to clean! The press cleaner is part of the press itself, so no need to keep track of a separate piece. Also, because the basket is large and open on one end, it is very easy to rinse out. This is my favorite part of this design. I think it is brilliant.This is a good deal, especially compared the Pampered Chef and Farberware versions which we paid more for years ago. We like and still use those models, but this will be the first one I pull out of the drawer because it is so easy to clean.I received this product at a discount in exchange for my review.
