The Right Thing at the Right Time
Perfect book for me. I frequently way underbid. It’s embarrassing, this will help me understand. I’m only on Page 19 and I’ve learned a lot.

I lovvvvvvvvvvvve this book! A great addition to any bridge library.
Basic bridge at its best presented in a fun and easy to read format, order both of her books together! Who better to learn from than a member of the ACBL Hall of Fame, and inventor of the splinter bid. Chapter Two on forcing bids is one you will want to share with all your friends once you read it, so get your copy machine ready to roll into action until they order their own book. "Bid Better" covered everything about bidding, leading and signaling imaginable and was so easy to understand, and was NOT boring. She writes in a way to capture your attention. Dorothy states "The way to improve your bridge is to cut down on your mistakes. There are two main causes of error: bad judgment and ignorance. Errors in judgment are not easy to correct but errors due to ignorance are." This book gives the information needed to cut down on errors through the knowledge it presents, and the wonderful tips for all levels of players. A book you can read more than once and still enjoy and learn. This book was recommended to me by my friend Cary Bush, tytyty.

Think!
A lovely book for the "serious beginner." Dorothy Truscott -- for years head honcho of the New York Times bridge column -- does indeed stress thinking rather than reacting at the bridge table. For example, would you support a bad bid by upping it? Yet many people do. Not every bid belongs to you and partner, and not every hand is bound for game. Think! This book helps you do just that, with humor and common sense.

A decent book about bridge
The author is a well known bridge player of some stature. The book is well written with some humor, although some of the concepts are outdated. What I found disturbing was the lack of editing. It needs to be edited by someone familiar with the game in order to correct some of the typos. When I complained to Amazon, I received a form letter. "Thanks for writing with your comments regarding the typographical errors .It is certainly not our intention for our customers to have anything but a pleasant experience using Kindle and Kindle applications. I apologize for any inconvenience caused in this regard. " Not very satisfying.Still the book is worth reading.

excellent, exciting, thoughtful book .........
I recently read a book from a young author which war quite engrossing and kept my interest including bucket list which kept mt interest right up to end. It is astounding that the writer chose a subject where in a main character who has serious conditions as a bubly, vibrant teenager has to make serious decision. the story teller has shown such an empathy, and caring towards the main character. Kudos to Kate McGovern. I can't wait for the next book. KP

I have been learning to play duplicate bridge for three ...
I have been learning to play duplicate bridge for three years and own 20 bridge books (wow I didn’t realize I have accumulated that many until now!) and this one is one of the most helpful. I’ve got to the point where I know many things by theory but often make mistakes at the table. I want to learn how to think, reason, and make the right choices at the table. This book points the way. What helped me most are how to continue re-evaluating my hands while bidding is going on, the Opening Lead, the Art of Signaling and Competitive Bidding.

Bridge Bidding and Play Tips and Techniques
A succinct guide to bidding and play. I hadn't played for nearly 40 years and Truscott's book brought me up to date on the bidding conventions in common use today. Playing techniques for both offense and defense are covered. This guide should improve your play if you are needing a brush up but may impose too steep of a learning curve for a beginner.

bridge review
This book really helped me, improve my game. It has excellent clear and concise facts on how to improve your game. The one fault I found was in not having the question and test answer immediately following the test. Even though I had written my answer after 7 or 8 answers I couldn't remember the hand. I think it would have been easier to look back, if it was not on a kindle. really feel more confident now.

Kindle version far too many errors. Please avoid
I bought the Kindle version presuming naturally that it will be a digital replica of the book. Sadly it is filled with a lot of errors like the one above where spades are shown as clubs.Since there are self evaluatory quizzes some of which are incorrectly printed you are likely to score badly too.As such though the book has a very logical flow to it that I loved.Had to order a physical version after I got frustrated repeatedly
