This little kitchen gadget works well for making ice balls. It is a unique novelty item and the two piece silicone construction allows for solid spheres rather than many other two halves options. The molded feet on the bottom stabilize it and hold it flat for freezing. You press the two pieces together and then fill through the small holes on the top. All 4 spots are connected enough that you only need to fill from one spot. It was a delicate balance of filling it full enough without overfilling however overfilling just resulted in the overflow freezing on the top (which does not impact the ice mold or freezer at all. Once the ice is frozen the two pieces are separated and the ice balls are removed. They do take a little cleaning up under some warm water but round out nicely. It makes 4 at a time. You can use various juices for a fun alternative. Our kids love them for something different in their drinks. It was a little tricky to get the hang of filling the trays, but with the help of common sense and the instructions, I got the job done. There was not a leak to be seen. The silicone trays fit great together and are sturdy enough to hold strong while full of water.I placed the mold in my freezer and let it do its thing. It did take a little longer than your normal ice cubes, but it is well worth it! I eagerly plopped out the 4 Ice balls. They came out easy and did not crack of break at all. They do last much longer than the your typical ice cube, which is very nice during a party time.
