Good Read
This actually wasn’t what I was expecting. If I’m being honest I was upset because it just wasn’t the story I was expecting it to be and the ending left me a little let down.However- that being said- I went into it thinking the book had a completely different storyline. I already had an idea of what would happen and when it didn’t- I was disappointed. I wish I didn’t have pre-conceived ideas of it because all together it really was a good book!I think the storyline keeps you on yours toes the whole time with a few shocking “whaaaat” moments in there too! Overall, I think this book was very well written- very well thought out, and executed! I would 100% recommend this book!

I Recommend this Entertaining & Spellbinding Murder Mystery Without Reservation to Fans of This Genre! Enjoy!
A fellow reviewer and cyber friend, Michael A. Newman wrote such a compelling review on Harlan Coben’s thrilling mystery, “Fool Me Once,” that I purchased the book at amazon.com immediately after reading his helpful thoughts.Like my friend, I did not figure out who the killer was until it was revealed by the author. As a war veteran myself, parts of this tale reached into my chest and crushed my heart as the believable suffering endured by the fictional persona, former pilot Army Captain Maya Stern comes to life through captured and replayed realistic memories of terrifying events, moans, voices that scream torture through her psyche via her PTSD infested nightmares.Just after a whirlwind relationship with Joe Burkett, they married a year later. Shortly thereafter, her daughter, Lily was born. While Maya was half way around the world flying special ops combat missions in the Middle East her reputation was portrayed in the news as an inept pilot who rained down bullets that not only killed those targeted, but also innocent civilians. The source of the video report was none other than opportunistic sensationalist reporter, “Corey-The-Whistle” Rudzinski.Still serving overseas she returns home after notification that her sister, Claire Walker, was tortured and murdered by an unknown assailant.Claire and her husband Eddie had two young children, Daniel and his little sister, Alexia. Maya was the children’s Godmother. Not long after Claire’s death, meeting her husband in a park, Joe and Maya were confronted by two masked muggers who shot and killed Joe as Maya tried to flee.A flawed mother and widow, Maya Burkett is plagued not only by PTSD, but the need to find out who killed her sister and husband and why.As she digs into her investigation, she is absent more and more from her new civilian job as a flight instructor and is jeopardy of being fired.. She also has had separate altercations with Eddie and her niece’s soccer coach. Maya is also being hounded as a potential suspect in her husband’s murder by NYPD homicide detective Robert Kierce. Additionally, she believes she is being stalked by someone who drives a red Buick and begins to questions her own sanity. Her longest friend, Eileen Flynn and former platoon mate, Shane are worried about her and keep a watchful eye on Maya, helping anyway they can.Finding Claire’s secret cell phone and call history increases Maya’s information and puts her on track to solve her sister’s murder. The pace, suspense and danger build while Maya finds connections and unveils secrets from the past that shape the direction of her search, but people go into hiding or disappear and bodies surface from the recent and distant past and Maya becomes a target of many sources. This is one of the most entertaining and spellbinding murder mysteries that I have read in a long time.I recommend it for fans of this genre and am not surprised that it is a best seller.I am glad I read it and bet you will be too! Enjoy!

It Was Alright
This was my first Harlan Coben novel, and overall I enjoyed it. The ending was definitely a shocker, and I didn't quite see it coming - however, with that being said, it was very much the "ending". The whole plot twist was revealed in just a few short pages, and it felt like and he finished the ending of the story so quickly afterwards that I had a bit of whiplash from it. With that in mind, I feel the book was unnecessarily long overall, and could have been trimmed down a little. It's hard to tell if Coben intended for Maya (the main character) to be morally gray or not, but either way, I didn't really find myself rooting for her all that much. For having a daughter, she didn't really seem all that connected to her. Seemed like Coben tried using her kid as more of a "prop" when it was convenient to give Maya a little more character depth, but just didn't really work for me.

My first Harlan Cohen book
For years, I intended to read a book by this author but I only just completed this one. The story line is fast paced with seeming red herrings to throw the reader off the trail. The roles are somewhat cliche: the damaged, cold hearted female helicopter pilot, the loyal lovable side kick, the villainous wealthy in-laws. But the context is current and interesting; we may all know a veteran who came back forever changed. My biggest complaint is that male authors miss so many details about motherhood its distracting. I am sure if I tried to write from a male point of view, I would miss the mark myself. Very read-ab!e, I recommend it!

Fool Me Once Rocks
Harlan Cohen never disappoints his readers. The plot was stellar. The characters were engaging. There wasn't anything that sounded false. I definitely recommend this book to any who are looking for a good read.

Unexpected ending! A sHICKER!
"Fool Me Once" by Harlan Coben is a gripping thriller that keeps readers on the edge of their seats from beginning to end. The novel follows Maya Burkett, an ex-special ops pilot, who is haunted by the murder of hersister while she was away on duty. and thenher husband. When she discovers a shocking revelation while watching a nanny cam, Maya is thrust into a whirlwind of deception and danger.Coben masterfully weaves together a complex web of twists and turns, keeping you guessing until the very last page. Each chapter ends on a cliffhanger, compelling you to keep turning the pages. While the pacing may feel slow at times, I found myself compelled to stick with it, and the payoff at the end made it all worthwhile. The characters are well-developed, adding depth to the thrilling rollercoaster ride of a novel that is "Fool Me Once".
