don't bother
Unless you are buying this for the software package included, I'd suggest paying the extra money and get the real thing, Wacom. The Pablo manual is useless, the web site nearly so, the 1-800 # is disconnected and the tech support appears to be an email address only (no response, at all).On the other hand, this older version of Photoshop has some of the most useful tools for beginning to intermediate graphic artists, a good trade off between tools and price. This 'starving artist' couldn't scrape together the major amount of cash for the most current Photoshop graphics suite, but I think I'm going to have to start saving my pennies for a graphics tablet that actually works.

Not just for Graphic Artists or Web Designers!
Since Pablo is geared toward graphic artists, web designers and the like, it is largely being mismarketed! It's ergonomic design enables you to surf the web with a PEN...so leave the mouse behind!I happen to be a web designer and use this tablet for many things. Using the mouse for extended periods of time causes my wrist to ache! Now, with my Pablo, I don't have to stop working to ease the pain. The tablet area (6x8) represents your screen (to scale)! Not like the mouse where you sometimes have to move it around to find the pointer. With Pablo, the "START" button is always in the lower left corner...just place the pen over that area and push! While it's a little unorthodox at first...if you know how to write with a pen you'll be comfortable with it in no time at all!Adding the software can be as easy as inserting the CD-ROM and plugging it in!(**See my comment below about this!) There's only one cord to connect...the USB Port! There aren't any lengthy installations.More perks! I comes with over $200.00 worth of bundled software, including Adobe Photoshop 5.0 LE, Adobe PageMill 3.0 and WebPainter 3.0!FOR GRAPHIC ARTISTS AND WEB DESIGNERS: Have you ever tried to draw with a mouse! The accuracy stinks...especially if your mouse is sensitive to movement (which is the whole point of a mouse). This pen and tablet combo allows you the freedom to freehand without the hassle of having to UNDO 7 times before it looks right! So you're probably wondering if there are any "CONS" to this product...here they are in a nutshell!1. No REAL user's manual that suggests tips and maybe a tutorial to allow the user to explore the full capability of this product. Although it IS pretty straight forward. My only question about use brings me to "CON" #2.2. When I am drawing in an image editing program, it may continue to draw after I've finished applying pressure with the pen. Why? How do I prevent this from happening?**3. I happened to encounter a small problem installing the software because the user's manual (term used lightly) does not tell you to install the software first and then plug in your gadget. For some this may be common knowledge but for those of you anxious to check it out (not knowing or paying attention) doing this in any order may cause you trouble. The good news is that KB GEAR (makers of the Pablo) has a troubleshooting section on their website that walked me through some CRAZY stuff (stuff I didn't know I had) and had me up and running in about 10 minutes! I was very impressed. Not like some companies where you're on the phone for 45 mins. with tech support (usually LONG DISTANCE)!All in all, there is a long list of benefits...like the $20.00 manufacturer's rebate inside the box! This is the ONLY tablet of it's kind for this price! A similar product by WACOM is almost twice the price! And in case you're wondering...it DOES work with Paint Shop Pro 6.0! An all-around GREAT buy!

Should Work on Vista
Ours seems to have a hardware problem with the pen, and has for a long time, but I had very little trouble installing to Windows Vista. The pen does absolutely squat, but my computer is having no trouble recognizing the device or the software. It would work fine if the pen worked. As far as I recall, when it worked, it worked faithfully. It was decent, with no accuracy trouble, though it was not too sensitive, but not frustrating. It was an enjoyable piece of equipment. The only trouble we ever had was when the pen died.

Good bang for your buck
It took my 2hrs to get the pad working. The drivers supplied with the pad were not compatible with ME, or at least on my hp platform. I checked out the website and downloaded the latest driver zip file (around 350k) and this worked so I am now functional. However, if this hadn't of worked I think I would have really been in it as the technical help files are no short of useless. In fact one of the comments in the help file was laughable ('if your computer says invalid systems disk then remove driver disk' - which isn't even supplied nowadays) I guess more constructive userfiles would be helpful. However, despite this the pad now works fine and although not terribly easy to draw pecisely with (I guess this takes prectice and alot of zooming) I can see advantages over a mouse. For the price of this unit it is very good and there is a good area to work with. Additionally the adobe 5 le software is worth having on its own. I hope this helps, happy hunting

Great Tablet - For The Price!
This drawing tablet works just fine for my needs and the price was ideal at just under $100. However, the most important concern isn't necessarily price or quality as it is finding the right SOFTWARE for your task. The included sw is geared more toward children, so I had to look elsewhere for my web-oriented needs - and I found that it works fine with Macromedia's software - not bad at all for under $$$$!

Nice Touch
I have enjoyed using my graphics tablet and it works wonderfully on most my programs..Ive had a bit of a problem using it with Flash 4 tho. In drawing freehand vectors in Flash it seems to already have a starting point off the screen. The product DOES work wonderfully on my other graphic programs and the pressure sensitive pen is great!

INPRESSIVE
WORKS VERY NICELY VIA USB, SERIAL CONNECTION WAS SHAKY, BUT THE OUT PUT WAS REALLY COOL, CAN DO ANYTHING ON THE SCREEN YOU CAN DO WITH A PEN

Chapalang product
Unlike other people, I didn't run into problems installing it...however, I couldn't get the pressure sensitivity to work, so in a graphics program (Paint Shop Pro 7) I couldn't get it to vary the line thickness, density &c (and yes, I did check the settings in PSP).Also, the ergonomics of the pen are horrible: Both the button and the tip feel wobbly, like it's cheaply made, and I had to press quite hard to click the button. This is what i get for not reading reviews before buying (from eBay -- no wonder the darn thing was so cheap).
