I use this machine every night and it works great to help diffuse noise, such as planes, rain, wind, and other misc. My only complaint is that it is awkward to turn on and I sometimes brush against the volume control and then I have to deal with that. Some one with a very large hand might not have that problem but my small hand has to span over to reach the round power button plus then the machine is not stable so I have to hold on sort of while I am doing that and I end up moving the volume dial. If I pick it up and hold it with my left hand I suppose then I could push in with my right but that is awkward too because the button is very firm and besides that I am always in a hurry to get out of bed so I just do it one handed while still in bed. It is not a big deal but I thought I would mention it. The machine works wonderfully for me every night. I like the look of it and it is very sleek so it is attractive on the night stand.

This works well, and is fairly loud.My only complaint, is that I wish the ocean sound were a 'far away' sound. It has the waves coming in and going out (awesome!), but at the end of each wave there's a distracting water trickle that is 'close up.' It changes the rhythm, and my ears try to perk up with the difference...not so conducive for sleep for me or my newborn. I was so sad about this, as I didn't want to use white noise, but that is what I've changed to. Baby slept great last night with the change, but my ears are roaring from the whoosh all night, and I personally find the white noise a little maddening, though this product had a perfectly respectable white noise sound.I found the volume acceptable, but wouldn't complain if it could go a little louder for the ocean and white noise sounds.

My old sound machine was destroyed when our house flooded so I got a cheap one from Walmart. Since I work nights I had to have a replacement fast. That one that didn't last long or work well. When it died, I ordered this one. I wish I still had my first one, as it had more options with the white noise and did not have any of the nature sounds. However this does a great job at drowning out the various noises my family makes during the day when I sleep.

I use this every night and it helps drown out the extraneous small noises. I am sleeping better generally and not waking up as often. Of course the time-released Melatonin also helps. It's easier to get back to sleep, too. Just wish it had less water sounds on it. I use the white noise sound. Was thinking about getting another sound card, but hesitate because of all the negative reviews about the additional cards not fitting properly. I'll just continue to use the white noise.

I've been using this every night for the last 10 months and it works great. I bought a sound card off ebay (much cheaper than Amazon) because the sounds that came with it were not exactly what I was looking for. Controls work good, unit does what it is supposed to. I've been using vaporizer fans for white noise the last 10 years, but they wear out and start to squeal after a year or so. Update 3 years later. February 2018, this is still working flawlessly. Still very happy with it. We take it with us when we travel. Very small and light weight. April 2020, still working great. I love this thing!

This is the 2nd one we've purchased and we love it. It's a little pricey but worth it. Our first one has worked for many (many) years and we just bought a second one for a guest bedroom. These offer a variety of sounds and extra cards so you can be sure there will be something to please everyone. You can set it for timed or continuous sound settings and volume. These are good quality and you can rest easy knowing that there will be no sound matrixing when you're using white noises such as the fan or air conditioner sound.

Great idea, the waves on the beach sound is most believable, the rain sound sounded like frying food,And the wind sound was more of a hurricane sound then the melodic soft wind that would lull you to sleep, I woke up every time it would become fierce. I am keeping it because the melodic waves on the beach do lull me to sleep. Thanks for that, I am sure they are people out there that prefer storms and static.

So far so good. Received item from Sharper Image in a few days. All sounds are excellent but white noise seems to be too soft. I wanted to use the machine white noise to drown out traffic noise but couldn't get it loud enough. Tried it again today and it seems to be louder. Don't know what happened. If it becomes soft again then I would consider returning it.
