It’s a kind of hard rubber. Soft to the touch but easier to grip than the phone without a cover. **Q: does the case close with magnets?** A: No magnets. It’s a very tight fit, which is good. The top fits into the bottom which is surrounded with a rubber like bumper. Not easy to take off, but it can be removed. **Q: I would love to hear how well this case protected the phone when it was dropped, was your phone protected when dropped?** A: I’ve dropped the phone once since purchasing the case. It really protects the phone.
