Accurate and Easy to Use
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I've now tried a couple of Baflan scales, and really can't decide which one I like most. This one has button that depress and a square top; the other one I tried out is rectangular. This is a simple, easy to use, and accurate scale. And accuracy matters most.✔ ACCURACY: I compared this scale with two others that I routinely use, and they all came in with the same weight for the same object. So this scale is accurate. Most scales are, in my experience; they must not be that hard to make. (An aside: no two thermometers I've tested have been alike. But that's another story.)✔ FEATURES: This scale can switch between ounces and grams, which is essential for working with different types of recipes. You can also zero it out with a bowl on the scale, allowing you to weigh just the contents. This is also essential.✔ DESIGN: This scale is more like a traditional kitchen scale, with a top plate and bottom part of the unit. I'd say this would look good with brushed steel appliances, but note that the top is glass with a silver back-lining.✔ CLEANING: This scale is easy to wipe down. However, after baking with it and measuring flour, I found my flour sort of caked up in and around the two buttons. The flour ultimately came out, but I've deducted one star just because it's not the easiest thing to clean the buttons.I was delighted to receive this item as a free sample and did not promise the manufacturer that I would produce a review. This review is entirely a result of my individual user-testing and my own unbiased opinion. What I present here is in no way influenced by anyone other than myself.

Well-made, accurate, easy to use, nice size
This hits all my requirements for a kitchen and postal scale. First of all, it's simple to use. One button to turn it on/zero out the display; another to cycle through the units (it offers the usual options of US and metric units). The size is especially handy -- compact enough for easy storage and have it not take up too much desk/counter space, but large enough so that I don't have a problem using it to weigh larger packages. The platform is 7 inches wide and 6 inches deep, but the display/control panel juts out to keep it visible when weighing larger items.The display is an LCD and is pretty clear. It is not back-lit, so you need to use this in a well-lit area for max visibility. The weight digits are larger and clear, but the units notation is very tiny and hard to read. That's not a big problem for me since I always keep it in pounds/ounces, but it could be an issue if you flip between units. I have to really squint to see what the unit is when cycling through the choices.It runs on a single CR2032 battery, which is included.I tested it for accuracy using my reference weights, and it was spot-on. No complaints there at all.I would certainly recommend this scale. It is well-designed, sized for easy use, and feels substantially made. While I would have liked a better display of the units, this is a solid 4.5 star scale.[Sample provided for review]
