Review: Compact, reliable and robust - A transfer speed of 1050MB/s is decent compared to SATA disk drives. In the SSD category, it is average but addresses the needs of most situations and uses. I got the 2TB size, the most convenient option per MB, and a capacity large enough to serve as a backup unit when considering this device on the road. Its pocket size and weight are significant features, making this product an ideal solution for almost every need and situation. All my previous experiences with Samsung external SSD have been highly successful, never experiencing any hardware failure or data loss. I guess this red T7 will emulate its predecessors, but only time will tell.

**Q: I am running mac os catalina. if i reformat the drive, will it erase the cache that’s built into the drive?**
A: Reformatting this external SSD will not do anything to its cache. In any case, the cache is used only during read/write operations, you can’t directly address it as a user and don’t have to think about it at all. You can reformat in APFS for best Mac performance or use any other scheme you need, including multiple partitions each formatted differently.

**Q: Will this ssd work as a external hard drive for ps5**
A: Yes, you should be able to use this as an external drive for the PS5 and get full speed on it as long as you plug it into one of the USB 3.2 ports. However, you will still not be able to play PS5 games off of it. You can play PS4 games off of it with improved load times.

Per Daniel Bastian's answer regarding the Xbox Series X. You can use the T7 on Series X, but you will not get the full speed. Series X uses USB 3.1 gen 1 ports, which are slower than this SSD. For Series X, you would be better off buying the T5 SSD.

A: no, the ssd is darker than the space grey mac

A: Yes. You might need to Google how to use an external drive, but the read/write speeds on this are exceptional (1GB/s), and the USB-C to USB-C cable it comes with is top-notch (as is the USB-C to USB-A cable). Obviously, you're going to want to be vary careful not to move the cables when in-use.
