Insta-cure gap filling 2oz Bob Smith Ind.

A number of weeks ago I pieced together glass for an outdoor lighting fixture. I used a different glue but it didn't fill in all of the gaps, so I got this Superglue to fill in. Despite it being Thick Superglue, the glue still flowed rather freely. This was a quick set Superglue despite it being a Thick Superglue. It did do a good job of filling cracks just under 1/8th of an inch. When using this glue you need to be assured that the upon completion of the dispensing, you need to do something to assure that the tip of the bottle doesn't plug off with Superglue. The best I have found so far is to keep the bottle upright in storage, and then slowly squeeze the bottle until air comes out. Tapping the bottle on a hard surface can also loosen up liquid glue that is in the spout. If you find the spout plugged right before you are ready to glue something you can do one, or multiple of the following: 1) Cut off more of the tip 2) Stick a metal. larger sized paperclips into the top of the bottle. 3) If you are unable to use a paperclip to poke into the top of the bottle because the glue in the tip has gotten too strong the last resort it to take a 1/64th to 1/32" drill bit and drill out the plug in the bottle.

I build model railroads Professionally for AffordableModelRailroads.com and use a lot CA (Super glue). I specifically use the glue from BSI (Bob Smith Industries). I consider it the best CA glue out there. With all glues the cap get glued up and it is nice these caps are replaceable so you don't waste half a bottle of glue because the nozzle gets plugged.

I bought Briwax chair repair first after it being so highly talked about, but it did not work for me. My Oak chairs have 2 different levels of lower supports that are solidly intact/glued and could not be disassembled. The Briwax did not migrate or soak in at all for me, my gaps were pretty tight, but the Starbond soaked in everywhere. I was a bit worried when I saw this product was "Super Fast" , but it worked out so much better than I had hoped it would. The more you use the longer it takes to set and worked out great. But it will glue your fingers in milliseconds. Use in ventilated area......... I flipped the chairs to let gravity work for me, if you are smart when doing the support braces rotate chair on it's side to use gravity as well. My Oak chairs have a single screw in them at the spindle base where the seat meets, on a diagonal. So I hand backed them out at least break their seal by hand if using a drill) after assuming I snapped the first one with a drill, but a couple I could tell were snapped when put in when taking them out by hand, so I did drill a few holes to get more Starbond to penetrate. I used 1 flex tip that came in this "kit" but I had to cut the tip 3x's for 4 chairs since the tip will soften from the glue. I recommend you make the cut of the tip as small as possible since this Starbond truly does run like water, which was perfect for my use. I inserted the add-on tip into the screw holes and squeezed until the hole was filed up then it soaks in and spreads, then go onto the next one. I then added some to the lower joints just because, and I had plenty of Starbond. Then after letting the first application sit and set a bit I built it up with another application, then I replaced the screws with drill after it set a bit so the screw would not get stuck and glued while replacing. Then I put another application all around the spindle bases until it looked like it was saturated. On the holes with broken screws I drilled a couple holes with a 5/64" drill bit and filled them also. Be sure to NOT drill very deep so you do not go through the seat, I only went 1" at an angle, like the screws were placed. Be sure to do this where you can drip and not ruin anything, it will drip it is that watery. Have a paper towel handy it you add too much to the support braces and it drips. After letting the Starbond set for 24 hours I sat and wiggled and there was zero movement. Success. I used 1/4 of the bottle for 4 chairs, but i did not use a lot on the support braces. Different wood will absorb it differently. I have the Starbond in the lower door of our fridge where it will last longer and be ready to be used for other projects. If I have any change in the long term results after they are used in time, I will update.

I got turned onto this stuff years ago half a lifetime ago. I used to work in an upholstery shop and my boss found a guy who could repair some of the frames that were in really bad shape. That's when I discovered this glue in the early 1990s. I've used it for all kinds of things you just need a little drop and be careful nothing's worse than gluing your fingers together. My only complaint is when you first open a new bottle you cut a small opening off the top of the glue and even with putting the cap on it seems sometimes the nozzle gets clogged and then you have to cut it lower. But this stuff is permanent I've used it in model building fixing things that are unfixable. A word of caution though I was building a garage for an HO train platform and I use it to glue the windows into building and because I sat the building down virtually sealing it the fumes caused all the clear plastic windows to get fogged up permanently. I don't really understand the purpose of the accelerator you hold the pieces together for 10 seconds they're stuck and after a couple hours it's completely cured. It's amazing you can glue metal to wood plastic the metal ceramics. Perfect example my brother-in-law borrowed an engine hoist to take the engine out of his car and the rubber grips kept sliding off I said give me a second put a couple drops slip the grip back on and he was amazed I said these grips are never coming off again. I've tried other so-called super glues like krazy glue. Everything else out there is a joke. This is the best glue ever if I could I'd give it six stars.

This is fast and works well on my model parts from wood resin and plastic. Used to like gorilla glue CA but know I use this.
