Scratchy, uncomfortable
This made the pillow feel like it was encased in paper. Even with a regular pillow cover. I was hoping for something marginally soft, but it's super uncomfortable. Disappointed that I can't use it.

Lifesaver!
I can breath in the morning now! They're a bit stiff at first to the point where my boyfriend didn't want to sleep with them. I have no problem sleeping with it right out of the packaging. I washed his and it definitely softened up and he no longer notices it. I was a bit concerned as I had read around that this might alter it's effectiveness but it seems to be doing just fine after a wash! Made a definite difference even if it was his pillow and not mine. I was definitely congested in the mornings where he did not use one on his pillow case despite me having one my pillow and the mattress.If you're gonna go with this you *have* to do it for the entire bed.I'm so so so glad I bought this! Quality of life (and sleep) is so much better now!This in conjunction with a mattress cover are a total lifesaver!
