It’s part of a large US base holding company. The box has a sticker that says Made in China AND it also has a German company name of Stiem Handels GmbH on it. I would hazard the guess that it falls under the “components manufactured from world wide sources” and assembled maybe in Germany category. I have used for several years now - volunteer emergency service, I climb, sail and work with ropes/chords. This product is a very functional and useful tool, I carry this on a lanyard attached to uniform or belt. I have sharpened the blade, stainless steel works well. The awl is very sturdy and locks in position the whole form is very manageable fits well in my hand and allows for precise action.
