This book doesn't just stop at validating that you know something is not right in your world. It helps you identify the issue, see where it originated, and deal with it. All sorts of issues. With very practical ideas, broken down into small manageable steps. Just started using this book about a week ago, but I feel like it has been more helpful than all the other self help books I have read over the years, and even several of the sessions of therapy I have gone through in life. I am a person who wants to actually do something about my issues, not just contemplate and re-hash old stuff. I want to deal with stuff, and move forward in life, and I think this book is an amazing tool for me to do so. Review: This is a great book with a great program. There are about ten. Including Dependency, Subjugation, Defectiveness, and so forth. These are schemas (stories, scripts, and patterns) that you identify with and perpetuate, and they can keep you stuck. You may have heard of CBT. This is essentially Cognitive, Emotional, and Behavioral therapy. The authors maintain that it is useful to work on all three levels. One thing this book really helped me understand that there are reactive and counter-reactive elements to life traps. For example, someone with a Dependency life trap may fall into dependent, submissive patterns of learned helplessness. But some people can also be Counter-Dependent, covering over insecurity by being reactively and even aggressively independent.
