Could they play it without adult supervision? How much reading is there?** A: They would be able to handle it themselves...once they understand the rules. Though this is the Junior version of the game, there are still a few rules. My 7 year old kind of makes things up he doesn't remember when I'm not playing, but he still has a good time with his friends that are around his same age. If you're willing to play it a few times to help them learn the rules, then this game would be enjoyable to them by themselves. There's not much reading once you know the rules. Just rolling the dice and moving your pieces depending on what you roll. **Q: Will the extension work for the expansions as well? say i wanted to add more player to seafarers** A: yeah if you don't get this 5-6 player expansion you won't have the main pieces to play the 5th and 6th players in seafarers. however if you just want to play four players, you can with seafarers expansion... there are also a 1-4 version of seafarers, and a 5-6 extension of seafers. so you need to buy 4 things to play seafers with 6 players. sorry if that doesn't make sense i think i did like the crappiest job of explaining.. **Q: My base Catan is the 3rd edition (off-white box, with red sides and the crest in the upper left). Will this expansion work with the 3rd edition?** A: The changes are all aesthetic. The card backs and tiles have different art work, so your board/pieces will look mismatched and the cards will look different.
