Durable and dishwasher safe **Q: Does anyone actually receive this? 2nd time I ordered and 2nd time it got lost instead of delivered** A: I got mine and love it. **Q: can i use with long flat metal skewers normally used for real kebabs?** A: Not unless it is one linear piece of metal (no loop on one end). It is designed to "pull" the skewer as the meat packs around the skewer and then you pull it out the front. You push the skewer into the body through a hole on the back (fits wooden skewer). As the meat packs around the skewer, the skewer is pulled forward, when you've loaded what you want, you pull the skewer out the front so it must go through the hole at the back entirely. **Q: Can it be used without skewers? Can you close the skewer hole with your thumb, or plug it with something, and just squeeze out a long snake of meat?** A: Yes, you can use it without skewers. The hole does not affect the operation of the tool. Easy to understand how to use it.... Used skewers I made from 316 SS 1/8 round bar at work, the first skew was easy to align with the hole in the back. I filled the tube, and it fed out as expected. The following skewers were just a small challenge to line up, but I did it. I like the fact it makes the skewers perfectly, the action to move them isn't to pick them up, but rather roll them. I picked a few up to move them on the grill with a 98% success rate, rolling them I got 100% success rate. Your ground meat has to be very cold. But this is normal stage in sausage making. There are a few things to create your own Kabobs. Seasoning salt for French Fries, Kimchee powder or use high temp cheese sold at sausage making sites.
