They are very soft and gentle on the hair, but the elastic allows for a firm ponytail holder. Hope this helps! **Q: Does it suit long thick hair?** A: 100% Yes! I have long, think and curly hair. Never used a scrunchie before and wondered the same thing myself. This works much, much better than a covered rubberband and easier on my hair too. Highly recommend. **Q: Do these leave a mark in your hair? Do they have elastic in them?** A: Yes they have an elastic surrounded by cloth. They do not leave a mark in my hair unless I leave it up all day. For a few hours it is fine.
