We Got A Lemon ... but don't let that deter you. If it works, it should be great! NOW UPDATED!
UPDATE: One day after I wrote this review and sent back the defective one, the company (Miller Samuel) contacted me, expressed their regrets, and promised to send me a replacement free of charge. The replacement arrived today just in time to slice a water melon we had just bought. The thing works great. If it holds up, then 5 stars ... and definitely five stars to the vendor.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------OK ... this thing should have worked. Unfortunately, the front blade of the slicer came apart before even one slice was made. We sent it back. However, that was a defect in quality control. No one could have known that was going to happen unless this specific slicer was tested first. We are going to order another one.

don't buy this product
I first thought this product was so interesting and wonderful and wanted to buy this. I was proven wrong. This product failed to work and be of any use. First of all the grip has no grip or padding, and is very painful to hold. The steel bottom failed to cut through the watermelon and required a lot of pressure to actually cut through. Once u get the slicer in the watermelon it is nearly impossible to get it out. You have to tug your way out inorder for it to come out. This product failed to meet my expectations, and I was extremely disappointed.

Slicer works but the strawberry corer broke after one use.
The watermelon slicer is a bit tricky to use but I'm getting the hang of it. The reason I'm only giving this 3 stars is because the strawberry corer that came with it broke the 2nd time I used it. A very tiny plastic pin came out and I have no idea where it goes to see if I could fix it. But, the bottom line is that it doesn't work at all now. I did like it before it fell apart, though. Since it is only part of the purchase, I felt that I probably couldn't return it, even though it's returnable until July 3rd.

Nice gadget to have around
Wish I got this item at a discount in exchange for a review but I didn't. I bought this full price because I thought it would be a cool gadget to have around. I haven't used the strawberry huller yet but have used the watermelon slicer twice. The first slice into the melon was a little more difficult but after you get the first slice out, the rest is easy. After the first slice, you can see how deep to go and you're really just slicing thru one end. I haven't tried this on other melons but I don't think it will be as effective. Overall, I thought it made the watermelon cutting process a lot easier. I cut them into nice bite sized pieces.

Takes some learning but easy and fast to use!
It's a little hard on the hands and takes a bit to learn how to use it, but it worked great. I tried to use a lot of force and I was going into the rind which was hard. It took a few tries to figure out the best way to hold it and move it through the watermelon. Once I got the method down it was easy to get almost all the watermelon out.

It worked pretty well on the first two watermelons
Short and to the point: It worked pretty well on the first two watermelons, then broke on the third. That little bar up front separated and we couldn't put it back together. So after only three watermelons, it's getting returned.I can see how this could actually be useful. There was a bit of a learning curve to it, but once you get it down, it does do the job. Now, if only they can manufacture a more solid product.

THEY GOT ME AGAIN!!!
The commercial shows a woman effortlessly carving the watermelon away. Whatever you saw on the infomercial, FORGET IT. You need to put a lot effort and muscle to carve out a straight cut, and once you do, you would not be able to carve all the way to the bottom of the fruit. NICE concept, but it is just easier to use the old-fashion knife. This is going straight back to the vendor.
