I recently discovered black garlic after finding a package of it sitting unassumingly within the garlic and shallots at my local supermarket. Being a white garlic lover, I bought some. Although it was a pain to peel (black garlic is soft and gelatinous in texture) I found the taste delicious and there was no problem eating an entire bulb in one sitting without ill effects or smell. In contrast, even a few raw white garlic cloves will cause your digestive system to rumble like a creature from Middle Earth and make your skin ooze an unmistakable sulfurous stench for days. Although garlic is a wonderful, potent superfood, eating it in large quantities is challenging for most people.Enter black garlic. Specifically, enter this fantastic seller of mass quantities of black garlic at a fair price. Finally I can enjoy the natural benefits of one of my favorite foods without fear of public retribution. Both times I've ordered from Culinary Elite the garlic was shipped quickly in a sturdy plastic container with a tight-fitting lid. For the price, you get A LOT of garlic and they really pack it in there. This garlic also tastes better than the variety from my local grocery--it is sweeter and slightly smokier in flavor. I was also pleased to learn that part of their proceeds go to supporting an animal sanctuary that they run and maintain. I will certainly order from them again in the future.

At first I was disappointed when I saw how small the container was, but I weighed it and it was just over a pound with the lid off (the container is plastic). These bad boys are really packed in there, though, and a pound will last you a long time. If you've ever tried buying and peeling whole heads of organic black garlic you will understand the value here. I eat them straight out of the jar like chewy, sweet, exotic candy. One time I ate about 20 cloves and had the worst heartburn of my life, so now I limit it to about 3 or 4. I've also used these in recipes that call for sweet soy sauce as we try to avoid processed sugar: just use half of what the recipe calls for of these and half water and throw them in the blender with the rest of the recipe ingredients.

I like it a lot. I ordered other black garlic from a different company and I like this one from the Culinary Elite better because the garlic cloves are bigger and the aftertaste is much stronger and sweeter and more satisfying than the other ones. It does not taste anything like "garlic". It is chewy and sweet. I had never tasted it before and I am glad to find the product.I cannot give 5 stars just because I have not tried enough from other companies.Thank you.Hiko

Superb quality. Arrived within a few days, faster than estimated. Intact peeled cloves with a nice moisture content. Soft enough to mash into an aoli, but not so squishy that they fall apart in the tub they are shipped in. Great, raisiny, prune-like flavor with a mild aged garlic emphasis. Will definitely purchase again.

Delicious! I love to add this to a crockpot stew for a rich, umami-type, somewhat sweet flavor. Super healthy version of garlic and it lasts a long time in the cupboard.
