Netherworld

I am being generous with three stars. The movie has some nice eroticism, but seems very confused in what it wants to be, and even in the nature of who the characters are. The ending was very confused (not confusing) and a big letdown. I give it three stars instead of two because it so so seldom one sees erotic mysticism or erotic horror in movies. But this movie is a huge missed opportunity.

If you remember Michael Bendetti was on 21 Jumpstreet and wonder what else he might have done this is about it, aside from Amanda and the Alien. He's not bad but there's nothing about his performance that makes him stand out from anyone else who could have done this. If you like him you like him, that's all.As for the movie in general it has some ideas that might have have gone somewhere with more interesting writing, or reworked in a remake, but it just doesn't. And there are some scenes that really don't age well and come across extremely creepy but not in a horror movie way. It's like the B or C unit of Full Moon got to make their own movie and you want to give them a participation ribbon because they tried.It's not really gory or bloody, there is some nudity and adult situations.

So, you may have to take this movie with a 5lb. brick of Velveeta, but you know, it's a pretty cool (and hot!) movie.The scenery is lovely, the cinematography excellent, and the music fantastic. It has its flaws, yes - but all in all, it is a visually stunning movie. I saw it years ago (10+) and I can still see certain scenes in my head today.Oscar winner, no... but it's definately worth a look.

I gave this movie 5 stars, because it reminded me enough of Hitchcock mixed with Charles Dickens topped off with Cajun suave that it made it a viewing pleasure.It would have been better if they had left out the special effects and concentrated more on a good evil storyline.The characters turn in good performances, but the story is in parts quite brutal.Denise Gentile is my forever favorite actress in her stunning beauty and nuances of her talent, but she never gets to do much besides the obvious.5 stars, because they honestly all tried and succeeded past a B movie and were quirky enough to make you smile.

This movie is some cheesy, weird goodness. It has the feel of those movies that use to play at 2am on basic cable. A movie that could DEF be remade with great success. It reminds me of Tales from the Crypt.

Starts out ok. The pacing seemed good at first but nothing ever happened. I kept waiting for something to happen. I got to the last 20 minutes and then well I just couldn't take it anymore. Very disappointed..... how did this get 4 stars? ><

I think for one of the horror movies made in the 90s, this has got to be one of the better ones. I just loved everything about it and it had my attention held al the way to the end of the movie. Lets also just say that I had watched this movie several years back on tv and had to find it to see it again because I liked it so much ;).

I had been searching for this title for years! So glad to have found it. Sure, it us a cheesy 80s horror movie but the musical score is AWESOME!! Edgar Winter rocks that saxophone in the Netherworld Waltz.

Very unique in its voodoo depiction of a man who inherits his father's estate with the dead father's hope of possessing his son's body. The bird people idea was a little strange. The live band performing during this film is excellent. The sax player sends shivers down your spine. He's that good a player.

Für Horror Fans ein gut gelungener Film. Die Tricks im Film können sich sehen lassen, wenn man bedenkt wie alt der Film schon ist.Ein Kultfilm für Horror fans.

Der Film hat durchaus gute Effekte, ist recht spannend, ein wenig Erotik und nackte Haut und durchaus blutige Szenen. Im Großen und Ganzen recht ordentlicher Horror für einen unterhaltsamen Abend geeignet!
