Take your time
Great price and product. It does its job well, it takes a few minutes to adjust everything and familiarity, but overall great. Some reviewers mentioned the lack of spacers or having to impervise to raise and snug the object to the vise. It wasn't a problem for me to do that. You paid 40 bucks, don't complain about having to do alil extra labor or make impervised spacers. I cut out 2 little cardboard squares, taped them and that help me raise the object exactly the height I needed to. I didn't use a vice to hold the sight pusher in place, so don't be concerned about that, it would help but not needed. I used a 3/4 and 19 size too work the sight pusher. You can also install a red dot base plate with this, a EGW to be exact. Great tool, completed the job, take your time in the small project and save yourself the hassle of paying and taking it too someone else.

Better than expected
I originally thought this was going to be a shoddy product that just looked like it was polished up to get bought; kind of like the McDonald's Big Mac; but this thing showed up, immediately won my respect. This thing was kind of difficult to figure out but once I got to play around with it, I started to figure it out with ease. It was really easy to use and fulfilled it's purpose. It did leave some scuff marks on my gun, I personally don't mind but the scratches as they don't degrade the gun. Other than that, it was a solid product.

Great Product, Fair Price
This is a very well made and engineered sight pusher. There is one problem, however: it is impossible to change the FRONT sight on most semi-auto pistols. The aluminum block at the bottom is too high to allow a slide with a recoil spring retainer to fit under the sight-pusher pawl. I solved the problem by removing the aluminum block and it worked fine, but there was no support under the slide. I re-engineered the tool by replacing the aluminum block with an adjustable oak block that can be pushed up under the slide to provide support. Other than this one shortcoming, it is a handy, well-made tool at a good price. The attached photo shows the tool with the modification I made. I was able to remove the front sight from my S&W M&P Shield and my S&W M&P 2.0. For some reason, S&W makes it very difficult to remove the sights from their pistols, but this tool did it.

Excellent tool. Great price and more than acceptable quality. A great value.
I am very happy with this sight pusher. I'm not a gunsmith, but a hobbyist. I would normally use a brass drift to uninstall and install sights. In this case I had a fairly pricey set of night sights to put on a Glock 17 slide. All the info that I found said, "Do Not drift them in". Apparently tritium is enclosed in glass and can break if the sight is drifted into place. Front is no problem, a screw and some blue loc-tite. The existing rear was held by 2 set screws. It was off in a few seconds. The new rear sight started into the dovetail fine. I pushed it in flush with a small C clamp. The side of the sight was tapered so I used the tapered side of the pusher block to go the last 3/16" to center the sight. (The opposite side of the block is flat so they have it covered either way). I believe it took longer to write this review than it did to do the install. If you are apprehensive about doing this type of work, there are several online videos using this exact tool and will help you more than written instructions. (Which are not included). You could certainly spend more for a sight pusher, but I see no reason to.

Not bad BUT only if you replace the hardware.
Garbage hardware! Trying to use this kit as it arrived yielded poor results. I am a gunsmith and have worked on hundreds of firearms while working for a firearms manufacture. I am no longer employed by a firearms company so I didn't have the sight tool that I needed to swap the sights out on 3 glock pistols at home today. I managed to get the first set of OEM glock nightsites off of one of the pistols before the hardware on this tool failed. The tool uses a 5/16' nut and bolt to slide the tools die along the bolt to push the sights off of the firearm. One end has a lock nut that is not supposed to move...well it broke free and moved. The bolt is not long enough to jam a second night up against it to keep it tight. The solution was to get a longer bolt and 2 new nuts. tighten the first night down (leaving it slightly loose so the bolt can still twist inside of the tool) and then take the 2nd nut and jam it tight up against the first. After I made this change the tool worked fine and did what I had needed it to do.

Solely for Firearms with Flat-Sided Slides
I purchased this sight pusher in order to remove the current rear sight on my Ruger Mark II, and install a dovetail mount for a red dot sight. As I tried to use this tool, I realized that this sight pusher (like every other sight pusher I've seen) was designed for use with firearms that have straight walled receivers/slides. The receiver of the Ruger Mark II is cylindrical. The flat sided blocks of this sight pusher, which are supposed to immobilize the slide or receiver during the removal or installation process, do not have sufficient gripping force to immobilize the cylindrical receiver of a Ruger Mark Series pistol. The round receiver of the pistol merely rolls to the right when the sight pusher applies left to right pressure to the dovetail sight. Totally useless for this type of pistol. I've taken the pistol to a gunsmith for removal of the current sight, and installation of the new dovetail mount.

Works Perfectly on my XD.
Perfect. Does what it’s intended to do. Called my local gun shop to ask how much they charge to remove sights; they told me $40 and it would take 2 days. Found this baby for the same price and I get to do it myself and keep for future use.Totally worth it! The people giving it 1 star are giving it a bad rating for damaging the gun, which we all know is the product’s fault (not). Of course it’s gonna scratch your gun! I mean it’s metal on metal what do you expect? Cut pieces off a cardboard box and place them on the sides of your slide to prevent damage to your slide.Works perfectly! Local gun shop said taking sights off my XD would be difficult but they slid right off! Love this thing. Great investment. Thank you!

Great
Good tool. Cheap. A litlle bit hard on the sights. Must taped it before adjusting.

solid built
pretty solid tool, works good, just know what you are doing and don't skimp on shimming up the item you are working on. Most of the damage I've seen in other reviews is simply laziness of the users to protect their slide.
