The Flute Scale Book (A Path to Artistry)

This is a book that you will play from daily! Excellent book.

I got this book at the suggestion of a new flute teacher, who had studied with one of the authors. I was looking for a comprehensive scale book..and BOY IS THIS IT! There are scales for all playing levels, as well as multiple ways (articulations & rhythms) to play each scale. There's a whole chapter that deals with nothing but harmonics that will give any flute player's embouchure a workout! There are also sample practice plans which I feel enable you to use the book to it's greatest benefit.

and it is nice to have for lessons.

This book has sensible exercises to prepare flute players for performance, making effective habits of scales, methods of playing, and even proper stance. There are more varieties of playing the same exercise than I shall ever play, making the range limitless for improvement.

Good flute book. A lot of good practice with scales.

This book belongs in every serious flutist's collection. A very well designed scale routine suitable for flutists at every level. Especially nice is the spiral binding, stays open/flat on any music stand.

Well written

This book is great. You do need a metronome, which is probably obvious to the initiated.There's enough on page 1 and 2 to keep me going for ages. It's teaching me a lot.I don't have a music background and I'm using this for a Simple system Irish flute. So a lot of the excercies don't work for me, but it doesn't matter as they are all adaptive so it's really good.There are supposed to be video clips to enhance the practice process online, but the website either hides them or they aren't there. That's why I have taken off one star! It'd be good to use the videos to help understand more.

There is no shortage of flute study books available. Many excellent ones, in fact. And this complete book of exercises for the beginner and advanced player alike ranks among those. The book is designed for the musician to progress at his/her own pace. Every exercise imaginable is included from ALL MAJOR AND MINOR KEYS to CHROMATICS to CHORD STUDIES to FINGERING CHARTS. Even a "pro" fluter will find this collection useful as a 'refresher course' from time to time. Well worth the price tag.

This book is very complete, and very well designed. Although it will require many hours of practice on my part, I am really happy to have bought it.
