A lot of great information but some of it is dull
I read Valerie Jarrett's book a few months ago and this one does not compare well in giving a sense of her life.I appreciated the treatment of her early life, especially the advice her parents gave her and the life stories of her parents. I had known the very basics but this book filled it in. The book for me was strongest in her young adulthood; her college years and work life and meeting her husband, and going through the first campaigns. In this part her voice really comes though and I loved the on-target quotes. The part during the presidency is very dull and seems to be a summary of news stories. There is very little feeling in it except when it concerns some of her presentations. especially to young people. These are of course wonderful, but embedded in a lot of text without a voice.

A First Lady that really cares
I'm really not into politics but after reading this book I found it very thought provoking and I felt a stronger connection to Michelle not just as the First Lady but as a strong person. Despite all the No's she received she still remained positive and didn't let it stop her from moving forward. She genuinely cared for those things she was passionate about I could really feel that with each part of the story I read.In world where there is so much hatred it was refreshing to hear her struggles and accomplishments to overcome and try to help others achieve those same goals..I feel that any other reader deciding to read this book will enjoy it's articulate , quirkiness , and learn things you might not know about Michelle Obama and former President Obama that made them in my opinion classy.

I have enjoyed reading this biography of a first lady I greatly ...
I have enjoyed reading this biography of a first lady I greatly admire. I have read a lot about the President, her husband, but little about her. I think the background of how yer family came to live in Chicago from the deep South is interesting because it parallels the lives of hundreds of thousands of blacks who did the same and the struggles they endured. The way the first lady's parents are portrayed brought tears to my eyes. What truly wonderful parents they were. I would have guessed that Mrs. Obama was an exellent student but didn't realize that none of it came easily to her. This is a chronology of her life. And it is very well written and includes an extensive set of notes/references at the end.

There Must Be More
This book is a revelation of what it is to be black, educated, a wife mother and dedicated civic leader, while incidentally being the dedicated wife of the President.Though I found the narrative to be too wordy and detailed, bottom line, it painted a picture of a remarkable woman who has grown stronger and wiser from her trials and experiencesNow in her fifties, about to be free of the fish bowl of Pennsylvania Avenue, with daughters practically on their own, in excellent health, she has so much more she can accomplish, personally, for blacks and other disadvantage minorities and for the Country.I hope to read another biography of future accomplishments and personal enrichment. In the enterim, I hope she has earned some time off to relax and unwind after November 2016.

Great Insightful Read on our former First Lady!
It gave you insight into where Mrs. Obama is from and how her strong family life shaped who she is today. It is so refreshing to read about a solid black family which is what my own family was like growing up. Except mine was bigger and we grew up in a nice, safe community in NJ shore. I had no idea she had been so involved in the election process, giving speeches and having a veto on whether they would even run at all. That was terrific! I would have liked more insight into how Mrs Obama got on with the White House staff and running her home there. But all in all it is a great read that I did not want to end.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and appreciate how she became the lovely ...
I am very impressed with Michelle as First Lady and as a genuine person who can relate to others. Therefore, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and appreciate how she became the lovely human being that she is. I will be very sorry to see her leave the White House. Her graciousness, her role as "Mom in Chief", the projects to which she has devoted her time, the style she embraced and the glamour she brought to the role. The book is very informative of her early and growth years, and her determination to constantly improve her knowledge, to get the best education and to make a better life for herself, and most of all, to help others become the best they can be.

"A Total Package"
I am such a "fan" of Michelle Obama. She is down to earth, says it like it is and has total confidence in who she is. I loved how she prioritized her goals. She had a plan from the beginning and she worked hard to make it happen. I loved how Barack Obama took her by surprise and when she saw what a decent, purposeful man he was, he had her at "Hello". She is so grounded as a daughter, sister, wife and mother, yet she also values herself and found a way to make "girl time", which she realized was necessary to keep her emotional balance. I loved her book, her honesty and above all her ability to love unconditionally.

Michelle Obama
I am so happy that I read about this amazing woman. I was never a big fan of the Obamas but this opened my eyes to the unwarranted criticism of every move she made.

It's a fairly good
The book was quite interesting and intriguing. The author made many clarifications during the whole book, which was quite annoying at times.Overall it's a fairly good reading if you're interested in the life of Michelle Obama.

Inspiring, moving and motivational
I am a man and honestly doubted on buying it (I was wrong), It is a really inspiring book, it includes important info about Obama and her relationship with him. BUT she stands for herself. I read "Dreams from my father" from Obama and these two books really complement each other, as well as the Obamas themselves. It is a complete and integral biography.
